A message from Peter Molyneux.
There is something I have to say. And I have to say it because I love making games. When a game is in development, myself and the development teams I work with constantly encourage each other to think of the best features and the most ground-breaking design possible.

However, what happens is that we strive to include absolutely everything we\'ve ever dreamt of and, in my enthusiasm, I talk about it to anyone who\'ll listen, mainly in press interviews. When I tell people about what we\'re planning, I\'m telling the truth, and people, of course, expect to see all the features I\'ve mentioned. And when some of the most ambitious ideas get altered, redesigned or even dropped, people rightly want to know what happened to them.

If I have mentioned any feature in the past which, for whatever reason, didn\'t make it as I described into Fable, I apologise. Every feature I have ever talked about WAS in development, but not all made it. Often the reason is that the feature did not make sense. For example, three years ago I talked about trees growing as time past. The team did code this but it took so much processor time (15%) that the feature was not worth leaving in. That 15 % was much better spent on effects and combat. So nothing I said was groundless hype, but people expecting specific features which couldn\'t be included were of course disappointed. If that\'s you, I apologise. All I can say is that Fable is the best game we could possibly make, and that people really seem to love it.

I have come to realise that I should not talk about features too early so I am considering not talking about games as early as I do. This will mean that the Lionhead games will not be known about as early as they are, but I think this is the more industry standard.

Our job as the Lionhead family of studios is to be as ambitious as we possibly can. But although we jump up and down in glee about the fabulous concepts and features we\'re working on, I will not mention them to the outside world until we\'ve implemented and tested them, and they are a reality.

Thank you for reading.

Peter.

oh, and 10 hour RPG\'s = letdown
thanks for playing

Do you know how do I answer to all that?I just copy paste my previous post.

oh, and who\'s the last dev to PUBLICALLY apologize for a game?

honestly, after that, you have nothing to stand on

Read it again, mm.  Don\'t just pick out what you want to read.

He said it\'s a good game and he\'s glad people are enjoying it.  I\'ll point to the reviews, AGAIN.  The game based on what it is is decidely better than average.

He\'s appologizing for all the stuff he said they were working on that people were looking forward to(the hype) and didn\'t make it in.

Please, read what you post...especially if you plan to make an arguement off of it.

Peter M learned a lesson, not us.
\"In the last 12 months 100,000 private sector jobs have been lost and yet you\'ve created 30,000 public sector jobs. Prime Minister, you cannot carry on forever squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecidented engorgement of the unproductive bit. You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.\" - Daniel Hannan

lesson was:  why pay 50$ for a overly hyped, long delayed, properly fluffed, peter M title (that he had to apologize for)

btw, is he the 1st dev to ever apoligize for a title?  i swear he has to be

also, what were it\'s 2nd week sales?

better yet, how many 2nd hand copies turned up on ebay?   or places like gamestop or funcoland?

I take it you\'re not going to read the letter again, huh?

Oh well, I would say nice try but it wasn\'t.

Have the second week sales been posted for Fable, have they even been brought up for any game?  Usually when a critical game has been released they look at first week sales, usually don\'t publicize anything afterwards.  Wait until a Sept. sales chart comes out before you go throwing this around.

Many people sell their games or trade them in when they finish with them, most game shops have a trade-in policy of two weeks.

I can\'t believe you would even mention that...so silly.

Please, mm.  Just get over it.

And if 2nd hand Fables appeared on ebay or wherever that would have meant that the many people who bought it the first week and afterwards want to get rid of the game because its crap ;)
It seems they dont want to

Well, then it\'s certainly garbage if one person can finish it in two days.  I suppose it\'s not as excellent as I thought it was...pity, I really liked it.

THE GAME CAN BE BEAT IN 2 DAYS!  THIS IS NO DIFFERENT THAN YOUR ARGUEMENT THAT FABLE CAN BE BEAT IN 10 HOURS.

Just to cut you off, you can\'t compare play time on a standard turn based RPG with an adventure RPG...so there.

Deja vu.  I\'ve already addressed this, please take a stroll through the thread.

EDIT:
I\'m not sure why this didn\'t cross my mind before, but what exactly are you looking for me to agree with?  I obviously haven\'t been able to make well enough sense out of your arguement and it seems you can\'t either since you refuse to reinforce it with reason.

What do you want?
