Wow. It has been awhile since
the Batman franchise has left a bad taste in my mouth, well since,
the Batman & Robin movie, but it\'s happened again. I am not quite sure where to start, but I will try and make a list of the flaws of this series.
- Let\'s start off with what people are going to notice first off - the new designs. Make no mistake, this is not Bruce Timm\'s Batman, gone are the square bodies, replaced with angular edges. Gone are the black backgrounds, replaced with a distinct anime style. The animation itself is not half bad, the fight scenes are well done. However, the new designs need a lot of work. And I do mean a lot of work. The (in keeping with the series "the" theme_ series has taken a drastic turn, the only character that truly works for the series is The Batman. Bruce himself looks terrible, like he was ripped from \'The Jackie Chan Adventures\' and so does the rest of the "normal" people. And let\'s not forget the newest and biggest redesign, \'The Joker\'. Oh god.. I understand the series wanted to try something new, but at some point you are actually butchering the character. He looks terrible. Downright terrible.
- Voice acting...Terrible. What else can I say? The Batman sounds sixteen, Alfred sounds way off , almost like he is anrgy everytime he speaks and Joker, well, let\'s just say whoever is doing his voice has no clue about the character. He doesn\'t sound crazy, he just sounds like a thug.
- The writing is extremely weak. We get corny lines such as " crime flies", "The Police!", "I gotta work on the stops" and many more. Not only is the dialouge corny, but the plot is weak. We never get a true feel for any of the characters or their purpose. Batman acts almost like Spider-Man, Bruce is way to happy and Joker is nothing more than a common thug. It\'s pathetic.
- Now for the various things. The "bat-wave", a gimmick that when on screen sends a signal to toys in the home and causes a reaction. The thing is simply annoying. The fact that Wayne Manor is in the middle of the city, the bat-cave being located in the sewers and various other things just add for a very disjointed Batman series.
Yes, it\'s safe to say I hated
the series. I will stick around for the series though, a lot of things can change. The writers may become more comfortable with the material, same with the voice actors (tho\' hopefully some of the other villians will be feature better voice actors). Do I think it\'ll happen? No, but I will stick around to see
the Batman develop. No matter how bad that may be.
