does anyone know the name of the new line of Sony TV\'s?

Well I will have to tell you I hooked up the HDTV converter and the TV last night and turned on the game in HD and let me tell you a tear came to my eye its the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I\'m not sure I can watch anything but the 8 hd channels I get damn it. Also on reg tv I get the "grewy" lines on the side is that bad for a long period of time?

Gray lines are a must because you have a CRT.  Gray is equal amounts of all three CRTs.  That way you don\'t have a burn in when watching 4x3 material.

You have to either stretch the material to fill the screen, enjoy the gray bars, or get a DLP or LCD.

Here is a convenient list of what\'s available in HD.

black is bad.  It means you aren\'t burning anything on that part of the CRT.  In time that part of the CRT will be brighter and more vibrant.  It won\'t age the same as the rest of your image.

I would love to invest in the money for an HD receiver and the HD channels , but there just isn\'t enough programming to warrant it yet.

I sorta know how you feel.  Though we have the programming, my cable provider doesn\'t do HD in my county yet (Comcast generally sucks around these parts).  I did buy an HD receiver and antennaweb.org said I only needed a small indoor antenna but it didn\'t work.  I didn\'t factor in the high trees in my area and I can\'t put a huge ass antenna on my roof (home owner\'s association crap) so the picture was highly unstable.  Ended up returning it and I\'m stuck with NTSC until I get the magic email from cumcast telling me the service is available.

You must be one of those people who are too good to watch Network TV, Bravo, TNT, Discovery, HDNet, etc. etc.

There is more now in HD than not in HD.  Plus if you tack on sports there is just no reason to say that any more.

You must be a complete jackass.
:)

I have nothing against Network TV (tho\' I hate TNT), I love Discovery Channel and the only sport I watch is football. It just seems the price you pay for a receiver is almost to much. I really want one tho\', I just have a problem paying that price for one.
Oh and my ReplayTV doesn\'t record HD it downconverts.

How am I a complete jackass?  Virtually all TV shows on Network TV are in HD now except for Reality shows and news shows.  Of course you don\'t like reality shows so that\'s not an issue.

Just about all football games are in HD.  CBS is now the crappy network in HD for football at only one game a week.

BUt there are over 125 games this year in HD.

I just can\'t comprehend why anyone would waste the money for a widescreen tv and not get HD.  Nothing looks worse than SD material stretched.

Most cable networks now carry HD or if you go D* you can get a receiver for 100 bucks.

You just made a comment that I was replying to concerning lack of programming.  I simply stated that the comment was completely false and that most prime time programming is in HD now.
