They had to do the "shaky, blurry, and extremely fast cuts" because Nemisis was a complete joke. The appliances the actor was wearing were so constrictive that they probably couldn\'t get a decent shot longer than 2 seconds where he looked in any way frightening.
The first movie was much better than this piece of crap. I can understand the conflict between making it a horror movie or an action movie; they necessarily moved more toward action in both films, but I think they went overboard on this one. As far as I\'m concerned, you either establish that they\'re low on ammunition, and then stick to that, or DON\'T MENTION IT. They wanted to have it both ways. I can\'t remember a single scene when any of the characters had to refrain from firing their weapon because they were low on ammo. [sp]Except in the cathedral, where they all strangely run out at once, then Alice saves them, after which they are magically rearmed with all the ammo they could need. [/sp] I could have written a very interesting and scary scene based on ammunition conservation.
The characters were boring and uninteresting. Even more so than in the first film, which is saying something, let me tell you. It turned into nothing more than a contest to see who\'s the biggest bad ass zombie killer. The Umbrella Corp bad guy was completely absurd. It was better in the first film where you never meet any of the decision makers in the corporation. That\'s the way it OUGHT TO BE. You should see things happening based on decisive orders, but never learn who\'s behind it.
Finally, the missing ingredient that made the first film so much better was the "red queen" - the computer that interfered with the character\'s progress through the Hive. That added an interesting spark of originality to the first film that is completely missing from this one. This time around, it\'s a story we\'ve already seen 100 times before.
