Nu, you\'ve been here just as long as I have, how is it that you didn\'t flat out predict their responses?

I assumed there was a "limit" to how far this BS could go. They have surpassed my expectations.

You guys will eventually get to my point where you don\'t partake in any of this.  I just play my games and have fun.

umm, I never said it was gonna be bad.  In fact if you look at my previous post, I said I believed it would be good.

All I was saying is that it\'s not too hard to set a pre-sale record when your game is constantly getting delayed.  Like I said, the original release date for this game was last spring (spring 03 for those wondering).

Sometimes I wonder if people even read post anymore around here.  Everyone is jumping to conclusions. :(

It was Fall \'03. And even then, the release date wasn\'t entirely confirmed. Just something an MS rep threw out, it was never mentioned again, and I recall Bungie quickly responding with a "it\'ll be done when it\'s done". There have really been no delays in HALO 2\'s development.

If you really must count what I mentioned above as a delay, then you can only say there has been one.

Agreed, but this game had freaking trailers in movie theatres, it\'s no wonder it\'s presales are going through the roof.  First time I ever saw a video game preview at a movie theatre, a Sony theatre no less!

I didn\'t say or suggest this.  My post was directed at "but nothing to brag about."

I think the amount of presales could be attributed to the success of the original game.  Halo sold 5 million copies, it\'s certainly one of the best selling games of this generation.

I remember seeing a Shenmue ad in the theater years ago and more recently Jak II.  Haven\'t seen a Halo 2 trailer yet.

They\'ve shown a Halo 2 trailer in every movie I\'ve gone to since Spiderman 2.

Jax and Daxter had cinema adds up the wazoo around these parts.  Same with Ratchet and Clank. Although, thinking about it, perhaps they were PS2 adds or competition just using the latest Sony platform game to make it look good. /shrugs

Anyways, as long as the game has a decent single player mode, I\'ll be happy. I don\'t always get a chance to play co-op any more, and without co-op the first game would have been worthless to me.

No pre-order.

think you\'ve participated in enough HALO discussions to know why the game catches so much praise, and why everybody anticipates HALO 2 much. Do you really need to ask?

Yes, Yes I do. I own Halo, owned it from day one (well damn near it) and the game never impressed me and I have never got a clear cut reason for people enjoying it other than the typical "it\'s fun"...

i also did not say halo 2 was gonna be bad, i\'m just not impressed.

a million presales is not that big of a deal for a game thats been in production how long?  and been in the media spotlight how long?

60 fps, where are you?

1)How many games do have so many presales?
2)How large is XBOXs usebase compared to PS2s?
3)The presales arent the absolute number of the excited gamers that want it.They could be a lot more.
4)An excited gamer about a game doesnt necessarily prebuy a game
5)So what if its 60fps?Considering its on an old console, its running in steady framerate, its not a fast paced FPS and most importantly of all everything else has improved we dont care.

3 years.  You can\'t simply get presales of that caliber by having any game in production.  Halo 2 earned that buzz from the original game and now it has broken the presales record.  I would tell you to get over it but we both know that isn\'t going to happen.  You\'re going to come up with as many trite excuses as you can to spin this or any other news for Halo 2.
