Domestic Policy Debate Tempe AZ
« Reply #15 on: October 14, 2004, 09:45:32 AM »
I thought Kerry did better here, but Bush did okay.  They both dodged a few questions but I noticed it most with Bush.  I\'m too lazy to pull up quotes.

What I found funny last night was that after the debate some Bush supporters commented that they like Bush and if he gets another four years that things need to change.  I couldn\'t help but laugh...

Anyway, I\'m going with Kerry.

No doubt in my mind that Kerry won this debate. I thought Kerry looked better in this debate than he did in the two previous ones. His answers were almost always relevant to the question and they were generally informative. I slo think that he did very well when it came to correcting Bush\'s mistatements about his policies. Bush\'s answers were generally vague and he seemed to want to focus more on labeling Kerry than actually answering the questions.

Bush also seems awkward when it comes to answering the questions. He always seems like he is waiting for a response from the moderator after each statement. After he got that first laugh he was trying too hard to make random witty statements. We want a president not the Kings of comedy.

BTW, Bush did mislead when he said this about Kerry:
Quote
He been a senator for 20 years. He voted to increase taxes 98 times. When they tried to reduce taxes, he voted against that 127 times.

That includes procedural(votes to discuss a bill, votes to end debates on a bill, etc.) votes so, while he technically did vote 98 times, less than a third of that were actual different tax hikes.

A hallmark of the Bush administration. Technically telling truth but backhandedly lying.

And you say I am biased?????  You have to be kidding.  Even Kerry\'s handlers admitted this was his worst debate, but still say he won.  Your observation shows how blinded you are. ;)  No mention of how many times Kerry gave false/misleading answers?

Everyone thought their guy won, no point in arguing that.  The sides are locked and I doubt anything is going to sway anyone.

^^^;) He may have been better, in relation to Bush, in the first two debates but IMO this seemed like his personal best.

I agree. The whole statement itself was unnecessary and came out awkwardly. Is the fact that Cheney has a gay daughter really going to sway THAT many(if ANY) voters?

Can you find a statement where I blantently support Kerry?  I don\'t live in MA anymore, I live in NJ where I go to college, not much different, NJ is still very democratic.
