The only positive thing I can think about cats is that they bury their own sh*t. I used to have an outside cat, and trust me...the cat leaving somewhere to make a fatty dump in someone else\'s lawn is a lot more fun than having to clean up my dog\'s grass-killing substances...

Dogs are smarter though...they don\'t have that stupid "curiosity"...

EDIT: OH yeah...back on topic...that\'s a cool story...

Dogs sniff other dogs\' a$$holes, they lick their own crotch and then they try to lick you in the face. Best friend indeed. :D

But that story was cool. I just wonder how the **** they train it to respond to her altering chemestry, or whatever the story said.

You\'re still a twit, GMan.

Cats and dogs are equal in my book. They\'re both far too different.

Dogs are mans best friend, they\'re ALWAYS wanting company and pats. Cats just snob u off and walk away.

All the cats I\'ve ever owned have LOVED company and pats. Sometimes they\'ll scratch at, or learn to open the door to my room because they\'re lonely.

Dogs protect you from intruders

Yah.. unless it\'s a shi-tsu, right? Oh, how about this one: Dogs maul little kids. YAYAYAYAYAY!!!

dogs are smarter. How many cats for the blind or cat drug finders are have u seen?

Rediculous. A dog can be easily manipulated and trained to do specific tasks, all of a sudden makes it smarter?

Damn straight it does, simply because the dog can do the tasks. They\'re not manipulated into anything, they do it because they love what they do.  A cat is too retarded to do anything.
That doesn\'t make it smarter. If so, does that mean all the lazy ass people on this planet are smarter then everyone else because they don\'t do shit or to stuck up to bother........ umm sure ok

Equal? No. Dogs are far and away > than cats.

No way. It\'s coz they need your body warmth and food. If you wanted them near you, you have to go pick them up and basically force them to be near you. A dog, you just call his/her name and there they are.

You obviously ignorant about pet dogs. Even a the most gentle of dogs will protect their owners. I\'ve seen this with my Miniature Terrier and Shepherd/Collie mix. Both extremely kind animals. However, if my friends get a little too rough with me, they will growl and warn them.

Yes. It takes intelligence and understanding for that to happen. In fact, the first time a dog was known to have sensed a skin disease was in England. A lady\'s dog kept licking and trying to nibble on her mole that was on the lower part of her leg. Mind you, this was a simple house pet. No training.

It was persistantly doing this for weeks until she decided to have it checked out by the doctor. Turns out it was melanoma. A skin cancer.

Today, dogs are being trained to smell the urine of older men to detect prostate cancer. So far, the success rate is around 30%. And it\'s only the beginning of the training.

BTW, I don\'t hate cats but I don\'t like them either. I just like to jab a little fun towards cat owners. Coz....you know...cat owners are gay. :p ;)

You totally missed the point.

A massive generalisation. Many/most cats grow very fond of their owners/friends. I know when I first started living with my friend, the cat would hiss and run away whenever I came near. But after a couple of weeks, it\'s leaping up on me while I sleep for a cuddle, walking over to me for a scratch on the chin, etc. etc.

Again, another generalisation. A lot of dogs won\'t necessarily come when they are called. Particularly if something else has caught it\'s attention.

You obviously didn\'t get that I was being subtly ironic. Using a massive overstatement/generalisation, just as Soully did to give him an example of how stupid he sounds.

And again, you\'re generalising. You seem to do that a lot, and always to the detrement of your opinion on cats, and to make dogs look better. Kind of like saying that all muslims are terrorists.. ;)

And again, those things you describe don\'t necessarily make it intelligent. A dog will also eat it\'s own shit and run in front of speeding cars like crazy, but that definately doesn\'t make it necessarily a moron.

Then explain to me why a Labrodor, known to be one of the dumbest in the dog kingdom is most commonly used as a guide dog? Perhaps because it\'s easily trained. Why do we never see a blind persons life in the hands of a poodle?

Oh, and the dogs a genius because it\'s seen a spot on a woman\'s leg and was licking at it? I suppose if they brought in other melanoma patients, it would instantly identify the problem? Understand what it was, why it was caused, how to avoid it and think of a treatment, eh?

What the hell? Did you think for a second before you wrote that?

p.s. Sorry for mixing up all your quotes.

Crikey, you accuse me of generalizing when you doing the same thing. Not all Shi-Tsus will attack kids. And BTW, generalizations ARE GENERALLY TRUE.

A lab may not be the most intelligent of dogs but they make up for it in their willingness and eagerness to please and get the training right. A cat is simply not capable of such things coz their intelligence just does not have that capacity. Poodles are not guide dogs simply due to its small size.  Duh! It\'ll get stepped on.

And I have no idea what your opinion is of that dog that found melanoma. Are you saying that scientists today are wasting their time training these dogs to find skin cancer?

I guess I was thinking of the miniature version.

They would make excellent guide dogs if not for its high maintenance on it fur. It needs to be trimmed frequently whereas Labradors their hair follicles sheds off when it reaches a certain length.

OH MY LORD! DOES THAT POODLE HAVE  A FANNY PACK? SEXAY!
