A minority of gamers (like those that visit boards like these) research at least a little bit before they make an investment in a gaming console. Most people just buy which ever has the best brand name or get\'s the most commercials with the prettiest pre-rendered movies on them.

Lane isn\'t the best school around Chicago. St. Ignatius is probably the best in the Chicagoland area, but even Ignatius can\'t beat the school I go to, Benet academy, which has the 2nd best ACT scores in IL.

THE PS2 IS THEEEEEEEE THING RIGHT NOW AND IT\'S LACK OF AVAILABILITY IS JUST MAKING IT THAT MUCH MORE POPULAR.  LOOK AT ALL THE FREE ADVERTISEMENT THAT THE PS2 GETS DUE TO ITS LACK OF AVAILABILITY.  WHO WOULD EVER HAVE THOUGHT THAT A GAME SYSTEM WOULD EVER BE ON THE EVENING NEWS?...... I GUESS SONY DID.  IT SEEMS A LITTLE SUSPICIOUS TO ME THAT A COMPANY WITH SUCH A REPUTABLE NAME WOULD, IN THE 12TH HOUR ANNOUNCE THAT THEY WILL BE CUTTING THERE SHIPMENTS IN HALF.  IS THIS CLEVER MARKETING OR JUST PLAIN IRRESPONSIBLE.  I\'M NOT SURE BUT I\'M LEANING TOWARDS CLEVER MARKETING.  I MUST ALSO SAY THAT ALL THIS HYPE ISN\'T WITHOUT WARRANT.  I HAVE A PS2 AND I AM SO HAPPY WITH THIS CONSOLE AND I AM LICKING MY CHOPS AT ALL THE FUTURE POTENTIAL THAT THIS MACHINE WILL HAVE.  HEY THE DVD MAY BE AVERAGE BUT GIVE ME A BREAK.  YOU ARE GETTING A STATE OF THE ART ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM FOR $300.  IS THERE ANY QUESTION AS TO WHY TO GET THIS SYSTEM????????????????????

If it was 100% you would have to know the future of Xbox, GC, future Sega products and the PS2 future. There is no way you could know every detail about the above mentioned, so there is no way you can say its 100% guranteed, unless its blind fanboy\'ish faith.

SMS murdered NES in Europe and South America. it was untouchable there.

Genesis outsold SNES in every area except for Japan.

Dreamcast is already on a better pace than PSX was when it came out, a much better pace.

The DC is 2 years old in Japan now, and still has ton of killer games coming out for it.
