Dell "Customer Service"
« on: November 13, 2004, 06:20:42 AM »
OK, so I try and buy a digital rebel camera yesterday for 845 bucks.  I order the thing and when I hit submit it gives me an error.  I hit the back buton and go back, but there are no order numbers for me to call the order in so I hit submit again.  Nothing.

SO I call.  I get the WORST sales person in the history of the world.  It took him 15 minutes to take down my info.  It was HORRIBLE.

When we get to where he takes my order he tells me I already have two on order.

Seriously.

So I ask him to cancel one of them.  He said that he couldn\'t.  VERY rudely I might add.

I asked him how in the world I was supposed to know I had two orders with Dell if I didn\'t get an email confirmation.

He told me they don\'t send confirmations.  Seriously?  Is this guy freaking nuts?  How can you do a mail order with no email confirmation?  Oye.

So he passed me off to a CSR.  She told me I had no orders.  Heh.  Yeah, that\'s what she told me.

So she passed me off to another CSR.

Now this chick told me that she took care of it and that I should only have one order.

Well today I have nothing.  Or do I?

Here is my delightful conversation with the Chat CSR.  Don\'t forget I was dealing with these people yesterday as well for over an hour.

Is Dell always like this?  I want to buy the camera from somewhere else, but I don\'t want 3 cameras showing up on my door.

Welcome to Dell Chat. Please wait for an available agent. You will be notified when your chat is accepted by an agent.

{RBD 7:39:03 AM} I\'m going crazy. I ordered a camera yesterday and when I ordered it the website gave me an error. So I called the order in and they said I had two orders in the system. I had the customer Service rep make sure I only had one order placed.

I have yet to get any confirmations and I have no idea if I have the camera on order yet.

I don\'t even have a customer number.
The session has been accepted.
{Marcy 7:39:23 AM}Thank you for contacting Dell Consumer Customer Care Chat. My name is Marcy. Please allow me a moment to review your question.
{Marcy 7:39:25 AM}   Please allow me a minute.

{Marcy 7:43:31 AM}Please provide me with your order #.
{RBD 7:44:02 AM}on the submit page when I got the error there was no order number
{RBD 7:44:30 AM}I hit back when I got the error to see if there was something wrong and looked for an order number
{RBD 7:44:50 AM}As far as I knew I never completed an order
{RBD 7:45:20 AM}So I called to order one by phone and was told I had 2 on order
{RBD 7:49:54 AM}   Are you still there?
{Marcy 7:50:04 AM}Yes
{RBD 7:50:19 AM}So what\'s the deal? What do I have on my account

{Marcy 7:56:34 AM}I suggest you to place the order again.
{RBD 7:56:41 AM}I want to cry
{RBD 7:57:00 AM}I can\'t tell you how many people I talked to yesterday and how long I was on the phone
{RBD 7:57:22 AM}I need to make sure I have nothing because I want to order it somewhere else
{Marcy 7:57:44 AM}I can surely understand the inconvenience caused to you
{RBD 7:57:46 AM}there is no way I can see myself spending 800 bucks with Dell after this
{RBD 7:58:11 AM}OK, if I get a package in the mail and a bill to my card what do I do?
{RBD 7:58:27 AM}Or god forbid multiple packages in the mail
{Marcy 7:59:15 AM}   You can place the order again
{Marcy 7:59:46 AM}   You wiill not be receiving any bills as your order is not placed as yet.
{RBD 8:00:11 AM}   so I had two on my card yesterday, but today I have nothing. That\'s fascinating
{Marcy 8:02:42 AM}Is there anything else I can assist you with?
{Marcy 8:04:05 AM}Thank you for visiting Dell Consumer Customer Care online chat and allowing me the opportunity to assist you. Also, feel free to visit us again at http://www.dellcustomercare.com .
{RBD 8:04:18 AM}   “Is there anything else I can assist you with?”
{RBD 8:04:25 AM}Did you seriously just ask me that?
{RBD 8:05:30 AM}I still don\'t know where the two cameras I apparently bought yesterday went and I still don\'t know if I am getting any in the mail
{Marcy 8:06:18 AM}I am just asking you if you have any other query
{RBD 8:07:04 AM}Ah, gotcha. Should probably take out the word else then. It emplies that you\'ve helped me. Thanks though. No, there is nothing else you can not help me with

Why were you buying a digital camera from Dell?  I would use them for computers, but not cameras.  And why pay $845 for a Digital Rebel?

Go to http://www.pricegrabber.com/ and find a camera store to buy from.  I had a good experience with http://www.beachcamera.com/ and their price on the Digital Rebel with 18-55mm lense is $699.00 after MIR.

Well with Coredweller\'s advice, I\'d bet your situation just improved a lot.

But, that really blows my mind with Dell. I have a Dell and it\'s been my experience that they\'re helpful if I ever need them.

Nice dood.

You want to talk about Dell being bitches?  Everyone already knows about my damn near two month wait for a package from them.  On another order I tried to order my projector with a 500 dollar off coupon and the damn website wouldn\'t accept my card number as the number was 3 digits too long for the field, so I called them to order it.  I get ahold of alovely indian woman with an ununderstandable accent.  I tell her what I want to buy, and she\'s cool with it, then I tell her that I want to use my coupon and she told me it didn\'t exist.  I told her that I was looking at the sumbitch and if she would just try typing in the number and the bitch refused to do so, yelled at me and hung up.  So later I called back, got an american dude, and it was no problem.

also, they overcharged me for an extra 200 bucks that I had to fight them over, but got it taken care of.  DELL SUCKS, but I do like their products and prices on their sales though.

I didn\'t buy it from Dell.  I bought it from somewhere else for 700 bucks.  I was getting the same deal from Dell.  It would have been 720.

These people are ridiculous.  I wouldn\'t have been sarcastic and rude to the chick if it hadn\'t been so long.

Every time the CSR ends the conversation with you they always say "Is there something else I can help you with."

I have the name of the first sales guy I talked to and I have the email of his supervisor.  I think I may just write a letter for the hell of it.

http://www.resellerratings.com

:( You get what you pay for usually, service included.  I think buydig.com, j&r, and bhphotovideo.com are some of the best for digicams.

I have a similar Dell story where 3 Indian guys took 45 minutes transferring me to each other and gave me ZERO help for my uncle\'s laptop.  I ended up browsing Dell\'s site myself along with some Googling and found the answer. :ghey:

When you use the word "totally", are you implementing a bit of sarcasm there or are you being serious?

We deal exclusivly with Dell at my work, and what happened to you is a VERY common senario Vid.

Quick story.

One of the keyboard keys on one of our laptops broke off. Normal... happenes all the time.

We call Dell to get a replacement keyboard and the CSR tells us to FORMAT AND RE-INSTALL THE OS!!!!!!!!!!

To fix a broken keyboard key.
