i feel they shouldn\'t punish this soldier..the insurgent that was wounded and killed by the soldier was shooting rpg\'s and missles at him....i mean what are the soldiers doin down there? that\'s right they KILL the enemy that\'s what they\'re told to do..then when they do it, they get punished like criminals?..that\'s pure bulls**t....i can only imagine how emotional these cats must feel after bein fired upon then finally finding the bastards that was shooting at them..hell i would\'ve shot his ass too...thoughts?

Well, I think some people will use this for political reasons....

But honestly, if you are sent in to raid a group of insurgents who were just bombarded, and you see one moving, it isn\'t so CRAZY to think that you might shoot at him.

Now, if you went over, kicked him, saw no weapons, and shot him execution style... that is going a bit far.

I don\'t think the Marine should be tried at all.  The previous day a soldier in their company was killed by a guy playing dead apparently.

I think this marine was hit in the face the day before.

If it WAS a wounded civilian and the guy did it for KICKS… then throw the book at him. But it wasn’t…

It’s kind of hard to say the same seeing that it was an insurgent, especially now they are starting to booby trap dead bodies to kill marines.

If anything this could be the only thing to be called into question (the red part)

IIRC a wounded combatant, with no weapons is a POW.
And killing a POW = wery wery bad.. nazi bad.

Either way, this war sucks, should never been started, but the "have-mores" had their way, good luck getting out.

You weren\'t there and you\'ve probably never been to war as most of us on these forums haven\'t so really no one has a right to judge what this man did.

I watched the video where those Marines broke in. The guy was unarmed and was playing dead (which was stupid as hell)...and then they asked if he was dead, and the marine shot him in the head, point-blank, and said "he\'s dead now" (which was already posted). I think that\'s pretty f*cked up. Technically, that guy was a POW...but what ACE said...we really should stop videotaping all these damn battles...

It really depends on what the marines reasons were...

If he thought the dude was a threat of some kind, then it is okay....

But if we was just trying to get rid of any survivors, that is not okay...

Obviously he thought the guy was a theat - he walked in with his weapon raised the entire time and was shouting at the guy.  There were other wounded insurgents in there and they were left alone.  The marine was also well aware he was being filmed so IMO it definitely isn\'t something he should be tried or even repremanded for.

This whole argument about what is legal and illegal during war is absurd.  A soldier doesn\'t have time to ponder whether his actions will be legal or illegal when it comes to the safety of him and his fellow soldiers.

Since Evi brought up 9/11 and Iraq - no there is not a solid connection between those two events, but yesterday a report came out that concluded money from the UN\'s Oil for Food Program was being used to reward the families of Palestinian suicide bombers... and some of you claim there was no connection between Iraq and terrorism?  :rolleyes:
