PSP issues already.

Those who were lucky enough to get the PSP for journalistic reasons are saying that in less than 2 hours, it needs recharging. Also some issues with frame rate dropping.

However, this is only from word of mouth via internet. I can\'t prove it\'s true. However, Sony did claim that graphic intensive games will consume more power to about 2 hours of play time.

Sony is still working on batteries that will last longer (or units that use less power).

Also, I will be picking up my DS this week which, BTW, will probably be hogged by my little nephews. I don\'t even know why I bother buying it. I always end up giving it away to them like my Gameboy, GBA and SP. :( I\'m such a wuss when it comes to my family.

So...why don\'t you stop giving them away? Suck it up...be a MAN!!
As for the PSP, this is the first time Sony admitted that the battery life sucks. But if this is just one source, then we should wait til we see others, or opinions from others who actually own one that you know...

I dont know if ill be sitting for 2 hours playing a handheld but who knows. Ill get a charger for my car. heh.

This news is kinda dissapointing but after dealing with the game gear i think i can handle it. For $150 and all the things it can do i think its about worth it.

The plane rides I take have been more than 2 hours IN FLIGHT. Then there\'s the terminal where you have to wait for the plane and standing in line.

Two hours battery life on "graphic intensive games"? First off, that is pathetic. Second, what do they consider "Graphic intensive games"? And depending on what is considered "graphic intensive", does this mean most developers will bring down the graphics simply for battery life? Seems like a lot of problems and a half-ass attempt on Sony\'s part.

They just need to make an extra battery pack that\'s somewhat big so you can just store it in your backpack, which will hopefully fit the bill for travelers.  I always lug a backpack around when I travel so it would be a nice option for me.

Anyone\'s gotta admit that 2 straight hours of gaming on a portable is pushing it.

I have a rule when buying computer products, consoles or handhelds..  Never buy them in the first year of release.

Well this isnt the only reason why but i do think that 2 hours straight is pushing it. An additional battery pack is indeed necissary and id probably get one but i dont think these are half assed excuses from sony.

The psp pushes some pretty crazy visuals for a handheld and it has moving parts correct? Unlike the DS so i wouldnt say its rediculous for some games to burn out 2 AA or w/e batteries in 2 hours.

It sux but its not completely stupid.

Not really. I played more than that straight when playing any of my Castlevania GBA games.

Heh, i think that\'s what THX meant ; it not being really acceptable.

I know.... when I first played Metal Gear Solid on my GBA I also had play sessions which easily reached 2 hours. It was on vacation in Italy where the power sockets are different and my GBA adapter was broken anyway, so I was forced to stash up on AA batteries.

I can imagine a slowpaced tactical game like MGS Acid to also be such a game which can be time consuming.

Sony had better release an optional battery pack which has at least double the gaming-battery life .... and yes I would pay some more for that.

But honestly, were you at a spot where you couldn\'t plug an AC adapter in the wall?

They sell battery packs seperately so new ones coming out or buying extra ones to be switched out is an option.  People have to understand that this system is like three or four times as powerful as the DS with a much bigger screen that draws far more power then both DS screens combined.  It\'s essentially a portable handheld PS2.  It\'s quite amazing that we went form the Super Nintendo quality GBA to the PS2 quality PSP in roughly four years.  That\'s astounding.  Too bad battery power can\'t seem to keep up with the changes, but it\'s definitely worth it at the price tag we\'ll get it for.

I have a Metal Gear Solid game for Game Boy Color but I didn\'t know they made one for Advanced.
