I didn\'t think it was that dark. The thing near the end that I think I mentioned in my other post was the only thing I would feel weird about letting a13 (and younger) year old see, just because of the sheer creepy immorality of it.

He was amazing in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (great movie by the way).

John Cleese playing Uncle Monty?

Egads man, it was Billy Connelly.

Didn\'t care for the movie that much, though Carey was solid as usual, and Dustin Hauffman had a great cameo.

Also, haven\'t seen Spotless Mind or Eternal Sunshine yet. Much to my shagrin.

My God, no kidding!! Tonight I saw the new movie, "Lemony Snicket\'s A Series of Unfortunate Events," and when Billy appeared (as the orphans\' jovial reptile-expert uncle), I could\'ve swort it was John Cleese. He was even doing a Cleese-type upper-class "good old chap" character. The resemblance is remarkable. It makes me wonder how many parts Billy gets because he\'s so much like John, and no doubt much cheaper.

Guess it\'s not just me. ;]

Billy Connelly mistaken for John Cleese?

John Cleese who starred as "Nearly Headless" in the first Harry Potter movie?

Well....they do look somewhat similar.

Anyone want to help me with this? I finished the first book of "Series of Unfortunate Events". However, I feel this movie was possibly a compilation of the other books? But I have not read them. Am I correct here? I think it was better than the book. Coz it was quite short and this movie had far more to tell.

I thought it was John Cleese too... in both this and the Last Samurai. pwned. :(

I believe its a compilation of the first 3 books, if I\'m not mistaken. I never got into the books myself, I\'m too into HP to give anything else a chance. lameness. :(

The movie is based on the first three books, The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, and The Wide Window.

I haven\'t read any of the books but I\'ve been searching for something to read inbetween Harry Potter books...after seeing the movie I don\'t think I\'ll be picking up the Lemony Snicket series.  I was mostly bored with the film, admiring the beautiful sets than staying interested in the story.

meh.
