They tell me we\'re leaving within the week. If they let me bring the laptop from work I\'ll keep you guys posted. Oh and we\'re going to Utapao.....wherever that is. I think its Thailand.

Someone told me a lot of the people are dying not from the tsunami but from all the bacteria of the corpses.

Wow your going to Utapao.  It is in Thailand.  Thats where the American base is that my father was on in the Vietnam War.  For the past few years hes been wanting to go back there for a visit.  He is glad he didnt now.  I wonder did the tsunami  hit Utapao?  I was going to go with him


This reminds me of the Bibical flood.  Just shows you how powerful and devestating water can be.  I knew a worst disaster then 9/11 was going to happen soon.  I have had nightmares at night thinking of what disasters were going to happen next after 9/11.  I just didnt know it was going to be this bad,  or anything like this. The bad part is another disaster is going to happen again.  I remember a year ago or so a large earthquake hit an ancient city and killed 30,000+.  I wonder if or when one that big will hit America.  I\'ve heard from someone that California could fall underwater.

100,000 people.  That number is so high its hard for me to comprehend.

But seriously, this is bound to happen again. It\'s nature. Still a tragedy though.

Seems Thailand is FINALLY going to get that warning system in place, a bit too late you sobs, dont you think?

182 Ways and i_killed_ur_dog are my two heros for the day, I wish I could do more than just sit here.

Especially Sri Lanka and Indonesia are in big need of help, but also Thailand when it comes to recovering the thousands of dead bodies (2000-3000 dead in Khao Lak alone).

Camorta Island, very close to the earthquakes epicentre.


The water has washed very far inland, destroying the island as you can see. Notice the villages?



The island has been smashed into two parts, three villages must have been totally destroyed.

y\'know to put this in another perspective me and some others complain about the death of amer soldiers in iraq...but this tragedy is on a whole other scale.. over 84,000 lives lost in one big swoop...truly sad..it\'s good to see the int\'l community come together to help these countries out...

What a catastrophe... These death toll numbers are just staggeringly high, and don\'t seem to be slowing down. I think its a good change that countries are just working together towards a global effort.

earlier on a site today I saw a vid of this older couple making there way to some guy holding his hand out to grab them, then they were hit by debris and swept away

its pretty un-imaginable to know what those people feel, I mean I live in central Canada so we don\'t get many tsunamis around here..
but the thought of being with a girlfriend/mom & dad or any friends or family on vactation and having the water pull them from you is pretty unbearable.

I saw that one too, I think they found the man but the woman was missing.

I can\'t this world today.. This is the most tragic event since 9/11 and that was only three 2 years ago. What\'s next? Can\'t even imagine..

Yea but this wasn\'t man made or anything.  It was a natural disaster.  But yes, this is very very scary and I feel terrible for those who have died and do not have any homes anymore.  I think I am going to donate a few bucks to the red cross when they come by my house again if it is for that cause.
