Can someone tell me how we can go to the moon, microwave food in seconds, play amazing video games yet no one out there can figure out how to remove a wisdom tooth without horrendous pain? Why!?!

Monday I had a second lower removed and it was a nightmare. One hour of drilling, cutting, and two people trying to yank the damn thing out of my head. Nightmarish pain only hours after the massacre and now the side of my face looks like I\'m storing a baseball in my cheek.

Anyway, anyone out there have it done without an issue or with even worse results than me?

I had my two lower wisdom teeth removed about 2 years ago, and it was really easy.  I opted for the happy gas, but I probably didn\'t need to.  I was just nervous about it.  I also bought the pain pills right after the procedure, but I never took them.  I had very little  pain, just a weird feeling with two holes in my gums.  I did take some ibuprofen, but that\'s it.

I think you must have had some unusual roots if the extraction was so difficult.  It depends entirely on the individual.  Some will have problems, and others will skate through.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal.

Thanks, Core.

They had to stop halfway through to get an x-ray and then they were a little confused at what they were seeing which made my heart drop. I had the feeling that something was wrong and they were going to put me under to finish. Luckily after a little more pain therapy they stitched me up. This was at the Mass General so I was dealing with the best . . . I think.

I\'ve talked to people who\'ve had all four out without much of a problem which amazes me.

Oh, thank the Lord for Percocets!!!

On Monday,

the dentist removed what she called root canal...they stick this pins up between the two spaces between my two teeth.  She saw, drill the gap between my two teeth on the upper left jaw to make it bigger so she can poke the root canals on the gum or something.  She removed 3 out of 4 root canals, the 4th one was difficult for her.  So she took many x-rays to find it.  She said its there on the x-ray picture, but she couldn\'t get it looking it through my mouth.  Everytime she try to stick up the pin, it bend and it didn\'t reach the last root canal i suppose.  So, I have about 5 or 6 x-rays of the same spot (i lost count and not that i am complaining since these x-rays doesn\'t hurt and i am wearing protective apron for it).  Each time, she look at the negative and then saw drill the tooth more to make the space wider so she can reach for it.  Finally, she got it, and then she put cement metal pins to fill up the gap then she crown it.  The first crown she put up, it broke.  Finally, she got the 2nd crown up all right.  This took 3 hours, I came in 10 A.M. and have it started and done at about 1 P.M.  And she took her last and probably the 7th x-ray and I am done.

Now, everytime I touch the upper left jaw where it cemented with my lower jaw, it hurt.

Honestly, even till today, I am still not sure what is root canal is and wonder why need to take it out for?  Anybody here know much about teeth or gum here?

I\'ve had several root canals and to be honest they were painless for the most part. I almost fell asleep during one of them. A root canal is basically the dentist killing the root from the inside, I believe. The tooth will then need a post and a crown.

I\'ll probably have to get mine taken out, but you should have opted for the gas.  I\'ve used the gas and they could kick me square in the nuts for hours on end, and I would have just giggled.

pfft, you\'re all whiney pussies. I had a molar removed from my bottom right because a tooth had come through rotten without a crown. Because of this my adult molar decided to push through the tooth and pretty much break what was left into quarters. The nerve was still quite alive and i felt about 1 week of the most painful s@#t I’ve ever felt.. When the tooth was removed and my molder to move freely i had never felt such relief.

I had all four out at the same time, and all of them had 4 roots, which they said was pretty uncommon. The only proble I had with it was the fact it sounded like they were breaking glass in my mouth, I opted for  the happy gas so I was basically half asleep. The pain afterwards isn\'t too harsh.

Although my gf got hers taken out and then she had dry socket, man that hurts like a mother-****er, she was in quite some pain for a few days.

I fear the dry socket. I figure if I get past day three that shouldn\'t be a problem but I\'m not sure.

I had 4 removed when I was 17.  Half the age and twice the man you are Ace.  Did it no sweat.

Oh wait, they gave me gas and I don\'t remember a thing.  Doh.

Oh yeah, the sockets.  That was awesome.  You have steak and then hours later if you are still hungry just use the water and squirt out a t-bone.
