Wow, it sure was a good idea to invade Iraq as part of our "War on Terror!"  :rolleyes:

Iraq has replaced Afghanistan as the training ground for the next generation of "professionalized" terrorists, according to a report released yesterday by the National Intelligence Council, the CIA director\'s think tank.

Iraq provides terrorists with "a training ground, a recruitment ground, the opportunity for enhancing technical skills," said David B. Low, the national intelligence officer for transnational threats. "There is even, under the best scenario, over time, the likelihood that some of the jihadists who are not killed there will, in a sense, go home, wherever home is, and will therefore disperse to various other countries."

According to the NIC report, Iraq has joined the list of conflicts -- including the Israeli-Palestinian stalemate, and independence movements in Chechnya (news - web sites), Kashmir (news - web sites), Mindanao in the Philippines, and southern Thailand -- that have deepened solidarity among Muslims and helped spread radical Islamic ideology.

Yes, and I posted my prediction here before we went to war.  It was not such a great intellectual feat to see this coming.

Yeah because if we never invaded Iraq terrorist breeding grounds would not exist.

Oh yeah, why believe the CIA now? They\'re the ones who screwed up the initial intel in the first place.

How did it just turn into a terrorist training ground.......after we went there?

Depleting their resources to carry out attacks here is the better alternative IMO.

The Iraq invasion itself, which we never should have bothered with in the first place, has helped spread radical Islamist ideology, and increased the feeling of unity among Muslims in their hatred of the United States.  Our invasion has created terrorists, not just absorbed them into one place.  If we had only attacked Afghanistan and left Iraq alone, Saddam\'s government would have limited the terrorist\'s ability to use that country as a training/staging area.  Instead we invaded this country which was no threat to us, and created a problem for ourselves by rallying the entire Muslim world against us.

I cant agree that Iraq posed no threat at all but I agree fully that by killing so many innocents we have definately stirred up some disontent if not hatred for the U.S. Some of these people are just kids. Who\'s going to teach them that this sort of thing happens in war? Some of them probably dont even know what this war is really all about.

Not to mention with Saddam out and elections coming up, the formerly opressed Shiia majority will most likely win. Hopefully there are no vengeful hearts waiting for the rest of the sunni population.

The terrorists would go into the heat of the combat because that is where the biggest threat to their cause is. By having the front there, it does help keep them there because that is the biggest threat to them.

i agree with core....if the terrorists REALLY wanted to fight us on our turf, they can still do it..just because they\'re fighting in iraq doesn\'t mean that we\'re fighting ALL of the terrorists of the world in iraq...just as we\'re fighting two fronts of this war(iraq,afhganastan) spel...the terrorists can very well do the the same..even moreso since they basically don\'t care if they live or die....
