Native 16:9 projector for under $1000
« on: February 12, 2005, 04:42:36 AM »
It seems Mitsubishi has lowered the price for their HC3 projector, from $2,700 to $999. Seems to be excellent value for money, if you want to get into home theater.

Loks solid.  Another deal is the infocus 4805 is selling at Costco for $999 with a 76" screen for free, but I think they only have those in the states. :\\  It has a DVI port and component input which the HC3 doesn\'t.  Check out the prices locally for it, despite it\'s lower resolution it has a newer DMD chip + a Faroudja DCDi vid processor and a 4x speed color wheel which helps to minimze the rainbow effect.

As for projectors in general there\'s still some stuff you have to buy to get it working.  Long, expensive shielded cables, ceiling mount, optional screen...

It\'s always cheaper if you call the projector dealer and ask for a quote over the phone.

edit- Here\'s a link to a mini review and you may wanna watch this thread,
