After about one week without internet at home, we finally got cable.

it uses coaxial to get signal and the speed can go up to 3 Mbits per second.  Coaxial connection is exactly like the RFU or the one that that you hook the antennae to the tv.

This will dramtically improve over my 56k modem that is slow as hell, its actually run less than 56k, much more like 46k.

3000/46 = 65

wow, if my cable run at it max, it will be 65 times faster than my phone line.

Now, I am waiting for my uncle to bring me the router and my cousin to helps me install it so my brother\'s room can use cable too.

I also found out 8x DVD+R Teon blank discs work on my playstation 2.  If a burned DVD disc work on playstation 2, it will have a very high chances of working with pretty much any stand a lone dvd players.  Who knows if Teon is a rebagged off a different manufacturer\'s name, as its cost cheap and works wonder.  I am happy.    So now blank disc that works wonder are:  TDK DVD-R 8x, TDK DVD+R 4x, Sony DVD+R 4x, and now Teon DVD+R 8x.

So life is great.

yup.  And I am tired to bother reading the rest of it...

congrats..  I can\'t imagine going back to dialup, I was even balking at my friend\'s DSL connection when I visited.

Luckily with the competition around here the cable companies keep slowly increasing the bandwidth.  I think we\'re up to 6mb down now.  I still want Verizon\'s FIOS service more than anything.  Saying the word Comcast makes me feel dirty inside.

I don\'t get it.  What is this 32gig a month plan about?  And what do you mean a losing a whole 2 gig?

Are you saying that if you subscribe to broadband say DSL or cable,  you are limited to 32 Gig a month of download/upload or something?

That\'s strange.  Either way, 32 Gig a month is plenty...but that\'s strange.  Does this apply to America too?

I guess I was lucky these days since that morning, my brother keep bugging me about paying the ISP so he can use the internet.  i told him lets get cable since dsl is not provided in our area.  I told him to go to our cousin\'s house and ask him for help on that.  My brother decided to pay for the dial up that we are using.  So, he took me to building, thank goodness it looks like it was close for good since the place is empty.   My brother said they probably just move to a different place.  So, he drove me around, but he couldn\'t find it.  thanks goodness.  While driving, he called on his cellphone and ask cellphone lady if she know where the IsP that we are using is.  She said she couldn\'t find it.

So, finally, he drove me to our cousin\'s house and left to work while I was there hanging out until the cousin that know how to get cable got home.

While there, my other cousin suggest me to look up the ISP that i used to use to see if they are still running for business.  Yup, it still running for business.  The site said they move to a different location long time ago.

When the cousin that knows how got home, I ask him for help on getting cable.  He said go to timewarner site and subscribe.  When my brother came to pick me up, I told him about the dial up ISP that he\'s looking for has moved to a different location as he suspected.  I told him to get cable instead and he talked to my cousin and off he subscribe to Roadrunner, instead of subscribing to Dial Up.  About 1 week later, we got cable.

if you have cable why do you still suffer from a slow connection?  And why do you have it setup so only one computer can be online at a time?  And what does the phone have to do with it, you are talking about cable internet, correct?

My apoligies for the confusions.  Sorry.  What I meant to say is, my brother wanted to go back to dial up since it expired.  He wanted to used the internet to do his research for his university college.  so, he went to the Dial Up place to subscribe.  But the place has moved.

Days after our Dial Up expired, I asked my cousin on help on getting DSL.  So, we called Verizon.  But Verizon DSL doesn\'t support in our area.  Neither does SBC Yahoo DSL.  My cousin said the only choice left is to choose Cable.  

My brother was eager to use the internet.  So he rush things by taking me to the Dial UP ISP place.  Thankfully, the place has been moved.  I had suggest him to see our cousin that can help us on getting cable instead of using Dial up.

Which he finally did.  He took me there in the afternoon and left since he has schooling.  That night, my brother came to pick me up, I suggest that he should choose cable instead of Dial Up and tell him to talk to my cousin about it.  He talked to my cousin.  My cousin told him to subscribe to TimeWarner.  My brother phoned TimeWarner, and subscribed to Timewarner cable.  And about one week later, we got TimeWarner Roadrunner cable.

That\'s what i meant by lucky.  Otherwise, if we haven\'t go Cable, i guess we will be stuck with Dial Up with those problems I listed above.

I download KProbe 2 and uses it to measure the quality of burnt DVDs and even pressed DVD.  Then later download mm\'s DVDInfo Pro software to measure too.  I thought I can also measure jitters, but it doesn\'t seem like it shrug?

how do I measure jitters on dvd discs btw?

here are some discs that I use to measure its PI errors and PI failures.

From what i read, a good quality disc should have no more than 280 PI errors and no higher than 4 PI Failures.

From looking at the graph, I guess PlayStation 2 is very picky that its can only read PI errors no higher than 50 or so and this is important on the beginning burnt part of the disc then the outer edge of the disc in order for the ps2 to recognize the disc.

I found that Sony 4X DVD+R is a rebadged of Ricoh brand.  This blank disc is top notch, its equal the quality of pressed DVD or maybe even better.  I used Lite-On to burnt the disc, so it may varies from burner to burner brand and model and also varies from blank disc to blank disc brand and model.  Cheap and lesser quality burner such as Emprex may give a much crappier results with more errors, failures, and perhaps jitters too than better burner.

As you can see from the graph, the PI errors are no more than 8 and most are around 2 to 4.

The PI failures are also around 1 to 2 but no more than 3.

Here is the same burnt disc but was tested using DVDInfo Pro software, but unfortunatedly, I can\'t measure its jitters.

The test is somewhat similiar to KProbe 2.  Except the PIE is no higher than 4 and the PIF is no higher than 3.   This is like awesome quality there.:nerd:

Here is the quality of GQ, a brand of blank disc DVDs that is rebadged from LeadData as the information was reveal from the software.  This disc was burnt using Emprex, and btw.  Both the disc and the burner itself are bad, when combine bad with bad.  its makes matter worst with higher errors and this is the case for PIE.  It spiked up pass 900 for PIE then near the end, it goes down to around 280 and spike up some more.

This is totally unacceptable.  For a quality of a disc to be good, the PIE should be no higher than 280.  This one reach over 900.  Weird thing is, many newer dvd players are less stricted on reading poor quality discs such as my cheap panasonic dvd player.  its read the disc fine except other stand a lone dvd players, it doesn\'t recognize the disc.  Neither does the PlayStation 2.

The interesting thing is, the PIF isn\'t that bad though.  It seems like its only around 4 to 5 from the beginning till near the end where it goes up to 60 with a few spikes tha reach nearly 200 and over.
