whoa. haven\'t heard of him before, but R. I. P.
He was a criminal, he tried to use the production of this car to swindle the British government out of a shit load of money in the late 70\'s early 80\'s.
Apart from the car being a pile of shit, it wasn\'t even a boné-fidé new car, instead, he hired Colin Chapman to design it, and in the end, it "borrowed" aspects of other cars of other makes, most noticably lotus.
The immense respect and reputation of Colin Chapman, who\'s genius was a major contribution to F1, made it what it is today (he was the guy that descovered ground effect & aerodynamic efficiency, as well as developing the monocoque), was forever tarnished by being associated with Delorean.
Had it not been for his untimely death in 1982, Chapman would most definately have been sentenced to many years in jail for his part.
Delorean was reputedly using the money in recieved from investors, to carry out all manor of shady dealings, from allegedly filling off-shore bank accounts, to drug dealing.
He was a wanker who overcharged investors, to fund an inferior and shoddy product, then use said funds to further fund unattractive ventures outside the delorean car enterprise.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
You mention Delorean to anyone, and the only real notable thing they will say in return is "Wasn\'t that the car they used in back to the future?"
That\'s how shite the product was.
