all I know is that Chris Rock was so watered down it wasn\'t worth having him host the ceremonies...
\"In the last 12 months 100,000 private sector jobs have been lost and yet you\'ve created 30,000 public sector jobs. Prime Minister, you cannot carry on forever squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecidented engorgement of the unproductive bit. You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.\" - Daniel Hannan

whoa.  I just look up Chris Rock imdb profile and its said he was born on February 7, 1965.  He\'s 40 years old.  I can\'t believe it.  When i saw him on tv, i thought he was in his mid to late 20s.  I didn\'t think much about it, if I think about it, I would think he would be in his early 30s.  But 40 years old.  interesting.

Why do ppl fail to see that knowing the past is a lesson for the present and future ?

THAT is the kind of reasoning why mankind will make the same mistakes over and over. I\'m not saying every person should know every history tidbit fact, but a certain general knowledge and sense of context is crucial.

Sigh, a similair debate i remember about Neo Nazi\'s. Yes, they do feed on WW2 Nazi idealism, even if alot of them are not completely aware about what it\'s all about In any case : these are past mistakes which somehow pop up again.

denying that it has nothing to do with those past events is the worst you can do.

Knowing what happend in the past is important but to blam current society for thing that others did in the past is not right,

With that reasoning however the Jews will always hate the Germans and good riddance too cause Im sure today germans are just as bad if not worse than the ones of the past I would expect anytime now a new era of jewish genocide.....

^ Well sorry, but that was not the point i was trying to make.

I\'m just saying that we as mankind/humanity would do the right thing by at least trying to learn from the past.

Today\'s victim could be tomorrow\'s perpetrator.

On the comparison between the Oscars 1935 - 2005 ; this example is too narrow draw any direct conclusions : but taken into a larger context we can learn from it on how US society through time has dealt with racial issues.

Dismissing such historic cases immediately as unimportant to the present and future to learn from them, is not a good thing imo.

I\'ve done a shit-ton of hallucinogens in my day, but I\'ve always steered clear of that shit. Yikes. I\'ll stick to synthetic Mescaline.

July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Its not as huge of a deal now and i dont really like the way the media covers them either but the point of that comment was to support the idea of "black music awards" etc. vs "white music awards." I dont think they are the greatest thing in history but they give blacks something to call their own.

The whole thing starts to get complicated from there so i wont elaborate, but considering how long black people/minorities havent been involved in these award ceremonies, it really shows you that for a large part of their history, they HAVE been technically" white etc. awards." Not to even mention things like the Country Music awards :p.

Good one Lord.

And also, I agree with Vid. Being black is almost like a freaking fad. If it\'s not the white people brining up the racial issues, it\'s the blacks and hispanics.

Why can\'t we just have awards where everybody is just...an actor? Not a black, white, hispanic or asian actor?

I understand the history behind it all. But seriously, I\'m with Cosby.
Don\'t try to confuse me with what you call  facts, my mind is already made up.

imo it just goes back to that oppression, slave mentality thing...they make it seem so special whenever a black actor gets anything why?..because those types of things was unheard of back in the day...bbc news was doing a small segment on how black people were bein lynched in the 30\'s & 60\'s and trust the 60\'s weren\'t really that long ago...

just like how denzel & halle berry got awards for what monster\'s ball? and i forgot the name of denzel\'s joint, but clearly both of those movies was not academy material...now malcom X..denzel should\'ve gotten an award for that, but because of the theme of the movie i knew THAT wasn\'t gonna happen..and as much as i like halle berry, none of her movies are of academy level if you ask me..she\'s just an average actress..

so yea the academy just basically threw some bones at the african americans the year they gave those awards to denzel and berry..but yea everybody needs to stop seperating each ethnic group and look at them as people...sadly that\'s never going to happen...
