Good news for AMD
« Reply #15 on: April 21, 2005, 05:15:52 AM »
come on man get with the program!  If it dosen\'t have Intel inside then it sucks!

I also like the fact that AMD won  the Computer Trade Show award for Best CPU Manufacturer at a shindig sponsored by Intel.

The girl (an intel employee) walked off the stage after announcing AMD won and wouldn\'t shake hands or hand the trophy to them.. just left it on the podium.

Exactly, but see, it is now fashionable to like AMD , so MM goes to Intel. He just has to be different, that is all there is to it.

As for the screwed with a dual G5 , sure he is, if that isn\'t what he wanted. Clearly, he bought one for what he wanted and apparently he enjoys it, so how is he screwed? Oh, he isn\'t, that\'s right, because as a consumer, he bought something to fit his needs.

BULLSHIT

either you have NO clue on how to build a stable system or you\'re flat out full of shit.  I\'ve built shit loads of systems and i\'ve never had a person complain about the system being unstable or "shoddy"

bad system = bad builder.

and you\'re not a bad system builder right mm?

That maybe true, but the difference is, AMD is cheaper in comparison.  Say, for video/audio encoding, Intel maybe in the lead, but for video gaming and graphic, AMD maybe in the lead.  But again, AMD is much cheaper than Intel.

And from what I read in this PC Forum, it sounds like AMD is catching up in the audio/video encoding part.  So, way to go AMD.

Its a good thing AMD exist because I don\'t want Intel to monopolize the computer industry and since there is no competition, they may charge whatever money they feels fit and the progress to increase computer performance and speed may not as fast as we like since there is no competition.

I can guaranfuckintee you that we would not be seeing dual-core let alone 64 bit computing on the horizon if it wasn\'t for AMD...

Intel has never been one to innovate, so i\'m glad someone came along to push them.  And to say that AMD chips are shoddy is pretty funny.  Do you have a prescott chip in your case that makes you so bitter or what?

I wish everyone would stop riding AMD\'s jock like they\'re the next best thing to sex.

But again, AMD is much cheaper than Intel.

For $200-$300 you can\'t buy a processor better than Intel for A/V encoding.  MUCH cheaper is an exaggeration.

Taken from another forum:

"Yeah screw them [Intel], they only pioneered the high-end processor in home computing, but what have they done for us lately? I mean, you know, besides USB and PCI-e."

AMD is a great chip maker that is moving future tech in the right direction but don\'t let your bias automatically hate anything that\'s associated with Intel.

Yes, all the awards, all the praises and all the benchmarks are wrong. Intel is the way to go. Listen to MM, don\'t listen to the many respected experts on the subject or the numerous articles or awards that AMD have received with their chips.
