Anyway, I never get it when people fall back on "but it\'s not natural." If anything nature is ripe with proof that "unnatural" behaviour is quite common if not "natural" itself.

As far as comparing us to animals, we\'re just as into instant gratification as animals are. Infact humans are the poster child of excessive gratification behaviours, in spite of our knowing better.

Capacity plays into it.

We have the unique ability for the most part of being able to take a stand offish approach and be selective about our behaviour unlike, for example, a dog.

That doesn\'t change the fact that the drive is still there.
And the degree in which we can deal with those compulsions is a luxury not everyone has either. There are a slew of mental conditions that people are aware they have, but lack the ability to do anything about it.

One\'s objection to homosexuality is based on nothing more than their own moral perspective. I suppose it\'s comforting to know that some people out there have it all figured out so they can point the rest of us the right direction.

EDIT: As for the topic, I say let them have their civil unions. Love is not exclusive between a man and a woman, and the benefits of marriage shouldn\'t be either.

EDIT2: Before any of you reply with "then what keeps us from letting a person marry a goat or a man marry a nine year old girl" then I say, because the idea of a civil union is between two consenting adults. <-- Read that carefully, those last two words are important.

I think Eikserf was getting the point across that someone who knows the plight of discrimation directly (or through ancestry) should not discriminate against someone or something they don\'t understand. It\'s hypocritical. He also was not making any direct reference to you.

that was directed at me. let\'s be very clear here, gays have not gone through nearly the same amount of abuse and torture that afri americans have endured...it\'s on a totally different level. blacks were looked down upon and wasn\'t equal to their white counter parts no matter what level of prestige or education that afri american held. we were hated for the color of our skin no questions asked...trying to compare the two is extremely ignorant...

sheeit gays have more rights than any afri amer ever had back in the day. they are not nearly looked down upon as afri americans are even today in this day and age, we are still on the bottom of the food chain, and it\'s no secret that people of color have to work twice as hard to get that job or house..(please don\'t come back with all that crap free scolarships and such) those of us who lived it know better...

so yea i share the gays plight in a sense that they should be looked at as a human being and not looked down on them because of their behavior, they are an equal just as everyone else sholud be. should they get married or called civil unions? i say civil unions, but if a law is passe that they are granted marriage licenses, then i\'m cool with that as well, trust i\'m not losin\' any sleep over this...

Mastubation isn\'t natural, however its irrelevant because nobody is making a stand to marry their right or left hands.
