Sony: Next-gen Playstation in 2005 a possibility

Ps3 is launching 6months after xbox360 if people expect the ps3 to be X more power than xbox360 they are sadly mistaken.

The xbox360 specs alone will cost MS a hefty chunk of cash on each system. I do not expect sony to exceed the specs of the xbox 360.

The expensive memory, storage medium and processor.
Yeah right there is noway they are going to create some monster of a console and still retail it to customers @300.

And I don\'t see sony taking an even more hit on their console just too one up Microsoft. It makes no sense. They did not do with the ps2 and I don\'t expect them to do it with the ps3.

Sony sheep he sais

anyways to answer the question.Since XBOX360 is going to be released earlier and already has hige support then a PS3 that is released later but is as powerful will extimguish any reason to be excited about it.

Sony wont be offering anything worth competing the next XBOX if thast teh case.XBOX360 will be the first to present that certain quality of graphics will be the first to develop support and there wont be anything new left to be excited about PS3.

But a more powerful PS3 balances things.
Now about revolution I dont care.If the revolution is released later then people should be expecting more just like people expectimg more from PS3 now.

(oh and I am expecting more from next gen as well)

I have you on my ignore list but I thought I\'d see what you said about this.  As for the sheep comment, it was meant to hit a certain frame of mind.  I say the same thing to Xbots.

I just don\'t understand why it\'s not enough to have a powerful next-gen system, but instead you have to have the most powerful? *shrugs

I don\'t understand that, you\'ll still get a next-gen PS3 and updates on all their IP\'s.  That of itself is exciting to me, and the idea of a next-gen Jak & Daxter...that makes me touch myself, Evi.;)

I dont really care right now, which is better for the sake of saying so, it is just the fact that if ALL next gen games are going to look like pc games today (condemed) then im just going to be dissapointed. Since we have already seen what the 360 is cooking up, Im hoping that the ps3 will one up it a tad.

Trying not to get my hopes up seems a little difficult at this point. When ps2 and xbox came out, we werent really seeing project gothams and MGS2\'s on pc. Perhaps in a batch of those upper echelon games but if the next gen comes out looking like a decent handfull of pc games today then its barely worth it.

Does that make any sense?

That makes sense, but I\'m not sure how valid your concerns are.  You need to watch Gears of War, Ghost Recon 3, and Project Gotham 3.  If you have already watched those and still have concerns then you need to have your vision checked.  They are far beyond this generation of consoles and are well enough ahead of anything I\'ve seen on a PC.

Bah.Thats not the point.
When XBOX360 is released before PS3 developers will start supporting XBOX360.It will gain consumers, support.A good thing.

The bad thing about PS3:
If when PS3 is launched later is nothing but an XBOX360 with its name changed when it comes to power and with less games since XBOX360 has been around earlier(which means more consumers=developers motivated to develop for the console with the most consumers) the consumer wont expect that he can get as much as what XBOX360 will be offering by then.

1st party sequels alone cant make the difference. We want brand new titles.Which XBOX360 will be having more when the "as powerful PS3" is released.

I am expecting Sony\'s PS3 to be more powerful since it will be released earlier.Unless its released in the same time frame as XBOX360.Only then I wouldnt mind as much.

But then again even then I might mind.Because so far I havent been impressed as much as I ve been expecting and I want my expectations to be satisfied

Lol, I can\'t help but pick up on an underlying concern of yours that Sony isn\'t going to be king of the hill anymore.  Get over it, Sony is not going anywhere.  If anything the playing field has been leveled, and believe it or not that is a good thing.

goes back to ignoring you

Out of curiousity, and this is to anyone expecting PS3>Xbox360, where have you drawn the line between being satisfied with a big grin and devastated, sobbing in the corner?

Is there some kind of equation for it?  Is it based on the amount of time it\'s released after Xbox 360?  Does it have anything to do with the 360?  Is it based on the info you\'ve gathered about cell?  Is it based on nothing more than blind faith?

help me understand you:p

Lol, I\'m just poking fun at you guys.  I find it funny how anxious some people are to see Sony one up Microsoft.  Funny in a sad way though...like a dying clown or something.

Oh, and this is my way of spamming the forum to get my avatar.  Four more posts and I\'ll go back to my regular lurking with a post every once in a while.

I\'m not at all concerned about it, why would I be?  Unfortunately I enjoy IP\'s from all three console makers so naturally I\'ll be getting all three consoles.  I expect Rare, Bungie, Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Square, and Nintendo to do their best with what they have to work with, and I\'ll kick back and enjoy.

I don\'t know what the issue is either. Apparently people can\'t hope for something greater in Rikku\'s world.

Ok, now for some reason in this thread :

during timespan DC to PS2 - alotta hype for PS2 in USA & Japan (Sony didn\'t do much in Europe to create PS2 hype) although DC had quite some momentum indeed.

Anyway, after ppl got their feet to the ground with PS2\'s launch line up it did deliver afterall.

during timespan Xbox360 to PS3 - alotta ppl subconsciously prepare for PS3 to not live up to their own hype like the case with PS2 was.

A little bit naive, but understandable. Rational thinking will conclude that Sony will like PS3 to not have the difficult start up stadium PS2 had. It would make sense they\'ve learned a lesson or two from the past 5 years.

Also, from the Anandtech & Beyond3D articles on supposedly PS3 Cell and Nvidia GPU tech I think PS3 is going to be a have hardware which is more custom designed with a large role for Nvidia as graphics software engineer tool writer.

Xbox360\'s specs look like more off the shelf with the added part of XNA software to get alot of performance out of it.

So, I think PS3 might be quite surprise when it comes to power, but Xbox360 won\'t die like DC did.
