There\'s a clear gap in power between a lot of the Jedi and it\'s very simple to understand. Some jedi\'s can stand up to Siddious in a duel(Yoda, Windu), other\'s just don\'t have the power and skill to compete(in ep2 in the arena plenty of Jedi died to fire power...but others were powerful enough to survive).

Yoda sits in the center cause he\'s the strongest k?
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

I doubt whether or not even Windu could stand up to the Emperor in a light sabre dual.. Though, they never exactly show to what extent Palps was feining weakness in their dual, I would assume that the whole fight was orchestrated.  Had he wished to kill Windu as quickly as the other 3 Jedi\'s, he would have done so.

I\'m pretty sure it would only have been Yoda, and maybe Anakin.. had ne not lost his cool in a hypothetical fight as he did against OB1.

Oh, and I forgot who mentioned it, but the point of Yoda bringing up the ability to comminicate from within the Force is a perfect way of explaining how OB1 could communicate with Luke after death (Remember, the force.. will be with you) and how Anakin, Yoda and OB1 were visible after death.

i\'d love to see exact  text, but in Ep2 Obi tell Anakin something like "control the force like master yoda and fight with a light saber like master windu".

IMO, Windu is very powerfull. Possibly the best Jedi warrior type. He manage to give Jango a quick haircut without a sweat, and Jango was a fearsome warrior (even Obi had trouble with).

I Also dont think Windu woulda go against Palp if he though he couldnt handle him.

Palpatine is a genius. He orchestred everything. He is like Obi, a diplomate type Sith. average with the force, average with the lightsaber (IMO)

Also Bob, how was their ability to use the Force dimished? Apparently OB\'s and Yoda\'s hadn\'t.

"It\'s not that they can\'t see the Dark Side coming, it\'s just that the Dark Side begins to envelop everything. It\'s like walking into a fog. The Jedi\'s ability to see lessens as the Dark Side grows."

"As evil begins to take over, it pushes the Force out of balance."

--George Lucas, AOTC DVD commentary.

here\'s more nice answers from a post i found somewhere:

Quote

"I think it is obvious that [Qui-Gon] was wrong in Episode I and made a dangerous decision, but ultimately this decision may be correct. The “phantom menace” refers to the force of the dark side of the universe. Anakin will be taken over by dark forces which in turn destroy the balance of the Galaxy, but the individual who kills the Emperor is Darth Vader—also Anakin. The tale meanders and both the prediction and Qui-Gon are correct—Anakin is the chosen one, and he did bring peace at last with his own sacrifice. Luke couldn\'t kill the Emperor himself, but he could make Anakin reflect on his life and kill the Emperor."

-— George Lucas, Cut Magazine, 1999

"If good and evil are mixed things become blurred - there is nothing between good and evil, everything is grey. In each of us we to have balance these emotions, and in the Star Wars saga the most important point is balance, balance between everything. It is dangerous to lose this. In The Phantom Menace one of the Jedi Council already knows the balance of The Force is starting to slip, and will slip further. It is obvious to this person that The Sith are going to destroy this balance. On the other hand a prediction which is referred to states someone will replace the balance in the future. At the right time a balance may again be created, but presently it is being eroded by dark forces. All of this shall be explained in Episode 2, so I can\'t say any more!"

That doesn\'t necessarily mean that Windu is as good as Yoda with a sabre. Or indeed Palpatine.

Remember also when OB1 said something along the lines of "If you spent half as much time practicing with a light sabre as you spent doing [whatever], then you\'d rival master yoda as a swordsman." Could also mean that Yoda is looked upon as the pinnacle of light sabre abilities.

Windu being the greatest swordsman was a possibility, but and I had considered it in my above post (but later deleted what I wrote), but.. I have my doubts.

And Palpatine is the equivilent of Yoda, he is good at everything. If you think he has average light-sabre skills/average with the force, then you must have watched a different movie than I. :P

Duel of the Fates is a pretty good orchestral song. I played it in a concert band one time and it sucked. Its one of those songs that has to be done by an orchestra.

It inspired me to finally buy Knights of the Old Republic again!

I\'m still not sure if choosing the light side will be more fun!! So confused I am. :(

Went back to playing shadows of the emperor, rogue squadon, Star Wars arcade and watching eps 4-6. That and long nostalgic conversations with friends.

Good stuff.

Just saw this movie tonight. I enjoyed it but...

[sp]This movie was way the fuck too fucking fuckity fuck fuck short. Seems like Darth Vader finally puts on his skirt and then it ends. I was hoping for at least some Darth Vader action before the movie ended. I think the movie could have used about 2 more hours. Maybe they\'ll release an extended version...or something.[/sp]

They did cut out plenty of scenes, though, that will make it into the DVD. Mainly just side-stories involving Padme, though.
