Explain to me two things.

1st: How is this concidered a comedy?

2nd: How is this considered fantastic?

Falls right in with Lost in Translation for me.

I mean it wasn\'t bad (As LiT was).  It was actually a decent film.  But I heard so much abou tit, I guess I was expecting, well, something.

I think I only chuckled one time.

I actually enjoyed that movie. But then again, I\'m obsessed with Japanese culture and I\'m a huge fan of Bill Murray.

Lost in Translation is horribly overrated.  I haven\'t seen Sideways but I usually like Giomatti\'s work.  Thanks for the heads up but I still plan on watching it. ;)

Anyone see Life Aquatic?

How could you hate Sideways? I mean, given.. my writer friend hated it but mostly for the characters. Also, he hates anything that doesn\'t have Zombie Jesus fighting Mecha-Godzilla while the Titanic is going down. Also, Mr.T..

Anywho.. Sideways is exactly as Jar O Pickles described it. A comedy you can relate to that isn\'t necessarily trying to make you laugh all the time.. but the laughs come naturally. Overrated? Maybe. It was a good flick, though.

I can relate to the "I like other wines besides Pinot" part.. :)

Lost in Translation was a special movie. Once again, realistic in a way and that\'s how it gets the comedy across. Two troubled people connecting and having fun in a "peaceful" downtown Tokyo. I felt like going to Japan after seeing this movie, and the next morning I sort of "longed" for the movie to continue which is incredibly odd. The atmosphere was great.

I also saw The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou in the theaters. Pretty good movie, but not like Sideways or LoT necessarily.

Think of Wes Anderson\'s other movies, most notably The Royal Tenenbaums.. and transplant their family with the staff of an undersea exploration show with an eccentric captain played by Bill Murray.

I thought it was a decent rent, wouldn\'t buy it or watch it again though.

Lost in Translation is probably one of the worst films I\'ve ever seen.

I thought Sideways was an absolutely hilarious film. Too many parts that just made me laugh out loud. When he tries to get his wallet back, and doesn\'t bother sneaking in the room, he just runs in!

Lost in Translation was also brilliant.

Life Aquatic had me in hysterics.

Though, they\'re certainly not typical comedies/movies.

Lost in Translation was a great character driven film.
I rank it up there with 25th Hour, The Royal Teenabums and other character driven films.

I liked sideways. But I also liked Lost in Translation & the Royal Tennenbaums. Sideways wasn\'t the "end-all, be-all", but I really laughed when that chick broke his nose with the motorcycle helmet. Plus, I love movies where you have a character who is the world\'s biggest scumbag.

LOL, My wife and I had the same thoughts while watching it. It wasn\';t bad, but it wasn\'t worthy of the hype it received.

3 scenes I liked.

Getting the wallet back is what I mentioned earlier as when I laughed.

When the car missed the tree (Although extremely predicatable)

ANd when he got his nose broken.

I never said I didn\'t like it.  I just heard it as being a very good comedy. I just don\'t see it as a comedy.  Just a life based movie.

THe movie wasn\'t bad.  Just didn\'t live up to what I was expecting I guess.

Lost in Translation on the other hand flat out sizucked.

True words... I watched it for the first time just two nights ago... And I was just sitting there bored out of my school... The only thing that I found funny/interesting was Bill Murray interacting with the Japanese.... but him and Charlize Theron were such a bore... I couldn\'t even finish the film... No climax, no conflict, nothing.
