Resident Evil 4 also has some cheesy dialogue,as to the point that you think "This sounds like an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie".

About the length of the game:I finished my first run through in 20:10 and I\'ve played hours of mercenaries and Assignement Ada so I guess it\'s about 30 hours total.

I still have to beat Pro mode and unlock the handcannon.

Enough said.

i bought a gamecube for my son a couple of years back..and i was gravely tempted to buy that remake...just couldn\'t see myself buyin the game then takin the game out of his room around 12:00 midnight just to play it..:p..maybe they\'ll make remake for ps3...i\'m currently waitin\' for part 4 on the ps2, and even tho it\'s graphically inferior to tha gamecube version, overall hopefully the port won\'t be that crappy....

Nah they\'re talking about the enhance remake of Resident Evil 1.

Zero is another game where you control two characters.

Then there\'s the recently released 4.

Nobody\'s brought up Zero in relation to the other games yet.

Probably.. because it lies basically in the middle of the pack..

No, its cause Zero sucked...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Here\'s how I rank them.

Resident Evil
Resident Evil : Rebirth
Resident Evil : Code Veronica
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil: Zero

Yes, Zero was complete and total crap. On the other hand, Rebirth and Code Veronica was both masterpieces. I went through each one of those games numerous times. I remember buying both on release day and being amazed, where as when I got RE:0 on release day, I was annoyed. I never even bothered finishing it.

wow LIC i haven\'t played part 4, but you ranked res evil 3 over 4? i\'ve played 3 and didn\'t think it was bad either, but i\'ve seen alot of reviews for part 4 which would seem that it was waaaay better than 3...

LIC hasn\'t played RE 4(wich is probably why he ranked it so low)

Ranking something that you haven\'t played doesn\'t make much sense to me but hey........whatever floats your boat.

Anyway, the reason why I joined this thread is to convince LIC to play it.

Play it,LIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or else I\'ll be forced to come to your house and ask you nicely  *winkwink*

There\'s nothing wrong with Resident Evil 3.. I thought it got an undeserved Rep. It\'s atmosphere was much better than RE2.. And was slightly more difficult IIRC. It was just the same old thing. And without the really cool idea of "Play through what Leon did during this time period/play through what Claire did during this time period", which to me was always the most interesting aspect of RE2.. why they removed it I\'ll never know..

RE4 was kind of odd. They hyped it up as being so different from the rest of the series, and in some ways it is, and others it isn\'t. Essentially it\'s the previous Resident Evil games with a non-fixed camera, and more action and shooting than you thought they could possibly cram into an action game. The biggest problem is that there is no level of suspense, due to having access to so much ammunition it\'s ridiculous.

Judging it off one play probably isn\'t fair LICky, as you\'d be comparing it to previous RE games, which it might not fully resemble.  But I can assure you there are some definate high points in the game. Still might not be your thing, but, whatever..

BTW

If you go to the link I posted earlier on gamerankings, then to screenshots and then to the final page you see all these locations(levels) and creatures that didn\'t make it in RE4.

What I heard was that the creator of RE4 had a whole scenario played out.You were in a house, very creepy atmosphere,it\'s dark.He actually completed that and then he threw it ALL overboard to make the RE4 that we now all know and love.

http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpagesscreens/535840.asp?pagenum=4

These are all screens of locations that aren\'t in RE4

There\'s even a movie over at gametrailers where you can see Leon walking through a dark corridor and he gets ravished by a shadow.

It\'s amazing to see that he completed the game and then COMPLETELY threw it overboard to go in a whole other direction.

The movie I\'m talking about is here:

http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1099

It\'s trailer 4.

Sorry, but the point of Resident Evil is closed in spaces, limited ammo and zombies...........
Does RE4 have those aspects? From the playtime I had, it didn\'t.

Well, it has "zombies" and a few tight areas.

It\'s not the same kind of game. Beautiful in its own right, highly polished.. but it\'s not easy to compare.

If I had to rank the RE\'s to this point, RE4 would be right up there with RE1 (GCN) but like I said.. it\'s hard to say either is 100% better than the other because they do different things well.

The gameplay in RE4 is hands-down better. It has a few "RE-style" puzzles but the action is far more enjoyable. On the other hand, RE1 is definitely spookier and had more enjoyable characters IMO.

Of course, who couldn\'t love the STARS staff? :)
