I\'m trying to figure out what about it is better, and the only thing I can come up with is the casting.  YES, Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, and [especially] GARY OLDMAN are much better than any earlier casting choices.  Beyond that, I don\'t see anything else being better.  You can take Ebert\'s opinion as gospel if you want, but I\'m a little reluctant to trust this film, given the depth of bat crapola that has been churned out in the past.  The fact that this bat suit looks exactly like prevous bat suits doesn\'t help the situation.

the difference is that the original movies tried more and more to be like the old tv show with the outragous costumes and the campy dialogand more worried about getting big name actors and how many copies of the soundtrack they were gonna sell.
this one is more like a straight up dark action flick only the main character happens to wear a batsuit

Scarecrow is supposed to be in this one, so I think there\'s still going to be some crazy costumes.

I was hoping for a costume with a cowl that didn\'t look like it was molded out of rigid latex.  If this is another bat suit where the wearer cannot turn his head, then it will be another complete joke to me.  There\'s no way a human can fight effectively without being able to turn their head.  I just can\'t believe it.

BTW, for me this is not a "love it or hate it situation."  I\'m just waiting for a good Batman film like the silver age comics I remember.

Have you seen the trailers?etc? This outfit is not the same. It is a different material. Bale can turn his head. He can rotate his body. He can pull of karate moves. He has full control of his body in this suit.

Yes I\'ve seen all trailers.  Hey, it could be that he can turn his head.  That would be great.  I\'m just saying I haven\'t seen it yet, and I don\'t think you have either.

I always base my likes and dislikes of a movie on whether a character can turn his head or not.  Hence my disllike for Star Wars 3.  Darth Vader can\'t do shit in that costume.

No, but I have followed the movie since  it was goin\' to be about Bruce and a guy named "Big Al" and I do know , for a fact, the crew has stated that was a big issue they wanted to fix and did fix. He can move his head.

The only thing I\'ve ever gotten out of the batman movies was a few naughty fantasies about Michelle Pfieffer in a catsuit.

I will admit that Batman Begins looks a little more promising than the others.

We\'re going to need more details on this.
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.
