Battlefield 2 Demo
« on: June 10, 2005, 10:33:47 PM »
http://www.gamespot.com/promos/bf2demo.html

i think its pretty awesome. But i have a good computer now and it makes it choppy as hell. Everything was on high, but i was thinking my computer could handle it.

theres jets, tanks, helicopters in the demo. Helo\'s are pretty much impossible for me to fly but other people have gotten it down. And the American\'s jet is awesome..hover takeoff, can see the engine rotate downwards. Graphics are good but still have the battlefield 1942 feeling underneath the good graphics..not sure if thats good or bad.

Yeah its going to be one sweet game.

Runs really well on my computer. I have one problem though, why is DICE not supporting TFT resolutions? BF42, BFV and now BF2 refuse to support 1280x1024.

Stupid bastards.

Anyway, great game, it has a nice feeling to it. Got mine preordered already. :)

Fast, add this to the shortcut:

"bf2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAPETIME!

maybe i\'m a bit slow, but I have no idea what they hell you are saying.  Is there some shortcut to get 1280x1024 in BF2?  I have BFV and that\'s my one pet peeve, no 1280x1024 support

so there\'s a way around it then or what?  Guess I could always google it and find out, but i\'d rather have other people do that for me ;)

EDIT...

I found what you were talking about, but it looks like it only works for bf2, not the older BF games.

sammy many have had the same problem when dealing with odd resolutions.  Even when using the shortcut commands.  Seems it\'s jsut a soppy demo, as far as features go anyways.

I have yet to try it out, but I will tonight I think.  I\'m really loving BF:V, even if a lot of people don\'t like it.  I\'m new to the whole battlefield series, so i\'m not jaded like most people.  I always play on the rubberducky server as it seems to be well controlled and is always close to full.

how big is the BF2 demo?  Like 500MB?

gamespot gave it a 9.3

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/battlefield2/review.html?q=1&tag=gs_hp_flashtop_bg

IGN 8.9

http://pc.ign.com/articles/627/627218p1.html

pretty good scores, but i\'m thinking about waiting until the first patch comes out.  Guess i\'ll have to ask you guys about any problems when it first comes out and base my decision from that.

ok got the demo... first time going to play online hit about 80% loaded then crashed to the desktop.  hmm.... ok, let\'s try this again

Loaded up and logged on some random server only to get killed instantly by one of my own team mates.... change spawn points and same thing... :(

Changed servers and found a team actually working together and having some good battles.  I was really getting discouraged at first... but now I think i\'m gonna have to run out and get this game today.  :)

doh! i was hoping my brother was gunna have bf2 purchased when i got home tonight but its nowhere. o well..ill get it tomorrow.

my only 2 complaints with the demo: The sniper rifle kinda sucks. It works now and then, but most of the time i have no idea where the bullet will end up, sometimes it takes 2 shots to kill people, and i cant tell if the bullet drops or not so i dont know whether to aim up from the guy or aim right at him. and 2) I get connection problems too often, gets annoying.

But the pros completely outway the cons.

Got mine today.

I hope DICE finds out a way to fix the stuttering problems many people are experiencing.
