Nice set.  If you are going to go with a small CRT, definitely buy a widescreen set.  Networks are not pushing towards 4:3 in the next couple years, they are pushing towards 16:9 and extremely fast.

As far as the tuner goes.  Don\'t even bother if it\'s only an OTA antenna.  If you go Direct TV, it has a built in OTA antenna.  If you go Cable, you don\'t need one as well.

Sony 30 XS955

If you can find a store that sell it cheaper, say a couple hundred bucks cheaper.  Go for it, its a great deal.

Sony have another 30" set, the 30 HS420.  The major difference is the 30 HS420 lack built in hd tuner, and doesn\'t have super fine pitch.  So it can only resolve a resolution of about 900 x 1080i maximum.  Price is $900.

You gotta decide if the extra resolution and built in hd tuner worth another $300.

Oh man, I\'d get the first one. That second TV is frickin\' tiny!!!

I\'d suggest Brick and Morter as well.

Your main thing is that since it\'s for your mummy, do you really want to deal with it after you leave?

Buying from a B&M allows your mum to take it somewhere if it breaks.

Buy online and you will have to deal with it.

Ok, let me clarify this AGAIN.  The site was only used because I wanted to show the TV (It\'s not where we plan to buy it).  It\'s on sale at Hhgregg AKA, the store down the street (the place we plan on buying it at).

its actually the same size, 30".  Its just the size of the pictures are different.  But again, a 30" widescreen isn\'t really that big.

30" is pretty small.  Only problem you will have is 4x3 material will have to be stretched.  But usually old people don\'t know the difference.
