I\'ll keep it short.

I have an Ipod. I have a new laptop with new Itunes. Is there any way to transfer songs from my laptop to the Ipod which doesn\'t seem to want to recognize it without deleting every song on my Ipod?

try opening itunes and going into preferences. Turn on "manually manage songs"...

If that\'s not it, reformat your ipod.

it still doesn\'t recognise it?!?!

you may have to reformat. It should be showing up in your itunes as a "folder". Then drag-n-drop from your library.

I\'m pretty sure you need the itunes disc with the utility on it to format your ipod with a compatible version of itunes. I have an extra, pm me if you need it.

Concerns about freely transferring files to and from the device are exactly the reason I avoided the IPod.  You may say he\'s only using the wrong software, but why should that even be an issue?  When I connect my iRiver to a PC, it simply assumes a drive letter, and I can move files using File Manager.  No special software required.  

Now you can explain to me how easy it is to move DRM-controlled files to another PC, or from one IPod to another.  :laughing:
