Opeth\'s newest release.

I know we have other Opeth fans here.

I think it is decent- doesnt come near to  beating Damnation/Deliverance.

lic is teh correct, on both accounts.

I\'m loving Reverie/Harlequin Forest, I\'m not loving the video for The Grand Conjuration

but the album is very good

Sorry.

Im suprised they signed up with Roadrunnder records. No offense to RR but, they seem to sign up a lot of shitty bands.

Not really surprised. Opeth will finally break into US mainstream metal this record.

EDIT - Found the video (Roadrunner\'s site, doh!). Can\'t say I\'m a fan of it, a bit mainstream, not expected from the likes of Opeth. Still, it just reassures my prediction that this is Opeth\'s time to shine.

Yeah can\'t say I was surprised either but Roadrunner probly offered them both more money than they were used to and more exposure in basically all markets.

If they\'d cut the stupid stuff from the video and just had the band playing from various angles and maybe a shot or two of the bugs then it would\'ve been nice.

I really have liked it so far.  Got caught on Ghost of Perdition right away.  The whole CD is pretty solid though.  It\'s good to have some harder stuff after Damnation.  I liked Damnation, but my favorite thing about Opeth is how they transition from the soft to the hard and back.  Nice to have that back again.  So far, I would take this over Damnation, to comment on what (e) said.  However, I don\'t think either Damnation or Deliverance were their best albums anyway.

Damnation evoked more emotions than any album I can think of- it was just haunting. Deliverance was by far their heaviest.

Its not to say My Arms Your Hearse, and Blackwater Park arent right behind them.

BTW: I bought Lamentations a couple weeks ago- awesome.

Damnation to me didn\'t have more emotions than a lot of other albums.  It wasn\'t varied enough for me to get into it the same as some other albums.

You want an emotional album, try Pain of Salvation- Remedy Lane

Damnation was a great album, but it did lack varation from song to song. Infact, it would of been a perfect album, if they would of cut some of the songs or cut \'em down.

Deliverance was a good album, a couple really good songs, but also had the same problem. It was simply to heavy.

I still say Blackwater Park is the best material.

< - Has had Lamentations since its R2 release.

I\'d agree that Blackwater Park was their best.

Personally, I think I would have appreciated Damnation and Deliverance more had they been released as they were originally intended, together, as a two disc set.

Don\'t get me wrong, I still love both.  I just think other Opeth albums have been better.
