When I was in Mexico, wearing sandals with no socks, we were walking down the street at night in a poor neighborhood.  The grass on either side of the cracked street was higher than your knee.

Out the corner of my eye I thought I saw something dark scurrying around.  I turned my head and saw it was a huge f#cking hairy-as-all-sh!t tarantula.  For some reason or another it was moving towards my foot.

It got within 15 inches of my foot but I must have jumped 15 feet in the air.  I yelled at my friends, they immediately looked down and this huge white guy in our group started moving like he was the Flash with a look of terror on his face. :laughing:

Our guide also moved back but was laughing when it was all over.  The spider vanished back into the grass and we always looked at our feet the rest of the trip.

Fucking hell, imagine waking up in the middle of the night and finding one of those crawling across your face!!!

Lucky for us, we don\'t get them that big in the uk. The biggest I\'ve seen, is a house spider with about a 1.5 inch leg span.

I don\'t really have a problem with them, as long as they stay in the corner of the ceiling. If it weren\'t for spiders, there\'s be shit loads of other nasties crawling around.

The big ones are not the ones you should be afraid of.

The ones with the most toxic venom are the small ones.  Black Widow spiders, which are common in Arizona and S. California carry a venom that is 15 times more poisonous than rattlesnake venom.

I have no problem with these huge spiders.  They don\'t attack large mammals like us.

Yeah, and it\'s also difficult for a big one like that to get inside your ear. I read in the paper that last year, there were over 100 cases in the uk alone of spiders crawling into peoples ears while they were sleeping.
