SNES = teh win
« on: October 16, 2005, 08:45:18 AM »
I had a hankering to play Donkey Kong Country and in sifting through my SNES games I discovered two things.

One, I lost my copy of DKC.

Two, the SNES was the best system so far.

Just looking through the games that I own I saw Super Mario World, Yoshi\'s Island, Uniracers, Super Mario RPG, Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Punch Out!!, Saturday Night Slam Masters (one of my own personal faves, heh), the Donkey Kong Country series, Star Fox, Mortal Kombat II, NBA Jam, F-Zero, Zelda Link to the Past and more.

And I never played games like Final Fantasy III, Chrono Trigger, Earthworm Jim, Super Metroid.

Please join me today in taking a moment to remember the Super Nintendo. :)

I\'d say they\'re pretty even, but I\'d give more kudos to the SNES simply because a lot of 3rd-parties were hesitant to start on Genesis development. Capcom and Konami, for instance.. supplied their best 16-bit works to the SNES.

Only later did they finally deliver the Castlevanias and Street Fighters and they weren\'t quite as good as their SNES counterparts.

It\'s tough to play Super Metroid after Prime.

But Chrono Trigger still hasn\'t lost its appeal.
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

There was a bit of a difference and time gap between the NTSC Genesis and the PAL Megadrive.

At it\'s peak.. i think the Megadrive eclipsed the PAL SNES for a (limited) period of time. However ; as soon as  the Megadrive 2 and the Megadrive CD / 32X hit the market, it all went downhill very fast with Sega and SNES.

So, yes, the SNES has enjoyed a steady succes.

IMO,

both are great system to own.  But SNES>Genesis.

the build quality on SNES seem a bit more durable then Genesis.  But I find games that were made on both system, the SNES have better graphic and sound than Genesis.  Especially the sound quality, the Genesis sounded like a poor reception coming from AM radio.

I\'ve only played through it once and that was enough for me.  Super Mario World, however, is the Mario game I\'ve been through dozens of times.  Sometimes I\'ll just spend a whole day starting and finishing the game.

Did you get 100% in Yoshi\'s Island?  I thought it was quite difficult.

Uhm?
Castlevania:Bloodlines rocked.

With that said - the SNES did rock.

Donkey Kong Country
Super Mario World
Super Mario Kart
Super Street Fighter II
Yoshi\'s Island
Castlevania
Killer Instinct
Mario Kart
F-Zero
Chrono Trigger
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
Super Mario All-Stars
Zelda: A link to the Past
Star Fox
Bubsy
Super Metriod (Which kicked PRIME\'s ass. Prime sucked)

So many great games. Still, the genesis had a lot of damn good games also.

LiC: Bloodlines was good, but better than CV4? I beg to differ.

I had Genesis. My favorite game on that included the first two Streets of Rage (the third one sucked unbelievably) and Super Monaco GP. I have a lot more but can\'t remember.
