Japanese Sales Numbers - all consoles
« on: December 30, 2005, 04:50:53 AM »
Pre-Christmas week in Japan. DS up, X360 way down.

Quote
The Nintendo DS has proven itself to be the must have toy in Japan, selling nearly 600,000 units in the week leading up to Christmas, and doubling the 300,000 sold last week.

The strong sales were driven by the software (particularly Animal Crossing and Mario Kart), with 5 of the top 10 software titles for Nintendo DS, and 7 of the top 10 for Nintendo hardware.

Also an interesting note, is the rapid drop in sales for the Xbox360, falling from 44,000 last week, to only 5,674 this week.

Hardware

DS - 597,628
PSP - 161,332
PS2 - 97,475
GCN - 36,646
GBASP - 35,764
GBM - 19,261
Xbox360 - 5,674
GBA - 906
Xbox - 141
Software

PS2 - Kingdom Hearts II, Square Enix - 727,591
DS - Animal Crossing: Wild World, Nintendo - 416,132
DS - Mario Kart DS, Nintendo - 302,742
PS2 - Naruto: Narultimate Hero 3, Bandai - 216,966
DS - Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon: Blue Rescue Force, Pokemon - 157,786
GBA - Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon: Red Rescue Force, Pokemon - 156,430
DS - Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop!, Bandai - 156,181
PS2 - Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence, Konami - 103,894
GCN - Mario Party 7, Nintendo - 100,130
DS - DS Training For Adults: Work Your Brain , Nintendo - 93,240

Note that the Japanese still love Square.

Not to say that the DS isn\'t worth it for its own games, but Nintendo was really smart to include full GBA compatibility.

I imagine in America for the same week, X360 sales hovered right around zero.

"360 > failure"? So that would mean it\'s a success, since it\'s greater than a failure?

What is even funnier is the fact that the PS2 sold almost 20 times more consoles than Xbox360.

Talk about loyalty...
\"In the last 12 months 100,000 private sector jobs have been lost and yet you\'ve created 30,000 public sector jobs. Prime Minister, you cannot carry on forever squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecidented engorgement of the unproductive bit. You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.\" - Daniel Hannan

True. But you prefer the PSP as an emulator, not as a system in its own right.

And a random observation... this icon :bj:  is SICK. *blrghh*
