ugh, as much as I love the push for hd this just makes it harder for blu-ray.  I hope the consumer wins in the end

Heh, this means little to Blu Ray as add-on have a history of not becoming popular.

I can see many reasons why Blu Ray will wins out in the end.  One of them is storage capacity and support 8 layers.  Many big name studios is backing Blu Ray, PS3 support it and it\'s built inside, not add-on.  Also,  beside being able to play Blu Ray movies on PS3, games can use the blu ray format too since it\'s built in.:D

Seriously, I don\'t have room for a 360, router, power brick and an external drive.

I will, however, make room for a PS3.

Well, it is indeed rather weak.

Not becuz of it taking more space,
but becuz it is an add on device.

Giving them away free, would even
not warrant succes.

Did Sega doom DC by making a DVD addon drive for it ?

No. It flopped because they (sega)  screwed up totally in marketing the machine well, especially in the PAL region. That wasn\'t a smart move after the 16bit add on debacles.

DC was rushed to market to beat PS2, tons of issues at launch, no real A+ launch titles or even after 6 months, eclipsed by sony less than a year later, etc...

they gave the DC away FOR FREE
how is that screwing up the marketing

a 200$ console for free, and noone bit
