New Orleans Mayor says God is mad at America.

Mayor Ray Nagin suggested Monday that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and other storms were a sign that "God is mad at America" and at black communities, too, for tearing themselves apart with violence and political infighting.

"Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it\'s destroyed and put stress on this country," Nagin, who is black, said as he and other city leaders marked Martin Luther King Day.

:ballpunch: Instead of attributing the hurricanes to rational factors like global warming and doing something useful in response, our idiot politicians choose to do nothing by resigning themselves to the will of God.

EDIT: Hmm... after actually reading the article, it seems he does have some positive things to say. But describing the hurricanes as divine punishment is still stupid...

but whatever..someone has to be blamed so why not america pissing off god. The problems were already pointed out..move on, fix the problem, and shut the fuck up.

but religion and politics mix in some sitations and sometimes they dont..for one, i dont think gay marriage is an issue so church and state should be separated. Cant really think of an instance off the top of my head where religion and politics is a good mix, but there is probably one somewhere.

and the hurricanes werent because of global warming,lol. Such a tired issue..the earth goes through trends, and right now (or a few months ago) we were in a hurricane trend..

True, the Earth goes through trends, and environmentalists have been hard pressed to come up with a link between the frequency of hurricanes and climate change. What has been proven, however, is that the intensity and size of these hurricanes have increased along with global warming. This certainly can\'t be blamed on perennial cycles and should be a cause for concern.

Blaming God certainly can relieve taxes. This way money doesn\'t go to research of the real problem....note my sarcasm.

politics and religion should never mix because YOU CAN\'T LEGISLATE TRUE FAITH.

If the police force you to go to church on Sunday where\'s the freedom in that?  Whether you\'re a Christian, Muslim, Jew, or whatever, God wants you to have a choice in believing him.  Not being force-fed laws and traditions made by man.

Sometimes you have to speak to the masses in the language that they understand. Speaking about Global Warming to the poverty stricken is useless. Tell them that God is mad at them for being stupid and violent will get their attention.

Nagin calls for rebuilding \'chocolate\' New Orleans

"I don\'t care what people are saying Uptown or wherever they are. This city will be chocolate at the end of the day," Nagin said in a Martin Luther King Jr. Day speech.

"How do you make chocolate? You take dark chocolate, you mix it with white milk, and it becomes a delicious drink. That is the chocolate I am talking about," he said.

I like chocolate.

The only problem with a chocolate New Orleans is that it\'d melt within about a week.

i really don\'t know what to make of the comment...in any case i don\'t think he was bein\' racial about it, as he did state white milk and dark chocolate..i think he was trying to come  up with some type of original statement, but it\'s comin\' off soundin\' kinda weird. the whole god is mad at america tho..:rolleyes:..he\'s waay off the mark on that comment.
