Not really, the Hezbollah conflict was more of a guerilla warfare conflict. It is one thing to hide behind civilians and shoot rockets and quite another to face off against a national military in conventional terms.
They days of conventional wars are over buddy.
Hezbollah is not an army, they are only about 10000 strong (maybe half of that was fighting in the war). But they are not your regular thugs (like Hamas) either, these guys have a common uniform, high tech weapons, are very well trained (by Iranians it is said) etc.
They didn\'t hide behind civilians (btw, would that have stopped the Israelis? No), they used tunnels and high tech weapons, that\'s what confused the Israelis. One area was cleared, and all of a sudden during the night Hezbollah popped out of nowhere and took it back. Also they had tech which would detect when the Israelis were approaching, they were monitoring the Israeli radio frequencies and could pin-point Israeli troops. The Israelis actually shut off their equipment because they came under fire whenever it was turned on.
They also managed to damage 57 MBTs out of the 370 which the Israelis attacked with. AND they knocked out a ship.
Even after Israel had bombed the country to smithereens, Hezbollah shot 200 rockets into Israel, that was on the last day of the war and so many rockets has never been fired into Israel before on one single day.
Israel was caught on the bed on that one. It exposed some major problems within their intelligence and military. Even the Israelis themselves agree on this.
No wonder they are now negotiating with Hezbollah instead of attacking them.
