Point being:

A college kid does not need a new car.
It\'s a waste of money.

They have just as much right to buy a new car as you do.

If he has the money, let him - its his fucking money, not yours.
Think for yourself. Question authority.

Ok....first off, the V8 in my car has a lot better fuel economy than a lot of 6 cylinders out there. Secondly, V8\'s may fizzle out in cars like a sedan but they will never fizzle out. Trucks require a lot of power to tow and haul things and V8s make the torgue to do that at lower RPMs. Try doing a lot of towing with a V6 with the same horsepower but torgue at a higher RPM which is their nature, you are going to be getting such shitty gas milage. V8s will never burn out. They will always be needed.

That’s fucken retarded man. Maybe v8s and all current engines will no longer be around in 2000+ years. (we won\'t be around to prove otherwise)  V8s will be around for a  long long time. Wither they are used in classics or trucks. If they\'re in use, they\'re around.

I agree with lic, better to own your car, then pay of the real owners (the bank)

Yep.
By the time interest adds up and you pay your car off, it\'s just not worth it. Not when you think about how you could just buy something cheaper, not have a car payment and save the money for something more important, like a house. I bought my car when I was young and stupid and regret it. Car payments plus full coverage insurance is nothing but a pain in the ass. I plan on paying extra this year and getting it paid off so that I can be done with it. I\'ll NEVER EVER own another new car.

Of course, there is an exception to this rule.
You make good money and are stable in the real world. Being in college does not count. Vid\'s case counts.

A new car is a waste of money for anyone, in my opinion.

I don\'t see myself ever buying a brand new car.

You have to look at it from my perspective though.

I don\'t have the money to shell out for a used car in one lump sum.

Monthly payments is something I can handle at this point in my life even if it means I pay more in the long run.
