When I was young the first thing I did was get a car note. Dumbest thing I ever did. At first it\'s all good. Til later down the line you realize how stupid you are. Insurance is high. Things come up and you still have to make the monthly payments.
It is hard enough trying to afford college and still pay a car note. I would rather have my own apartment than have a new car. I drive a 2004 intrepid that I paid for cash. With my house note and everything else paying a car note seems very stupid.
The car loses value the minute you drive it off the lot. If I were in his shoes I would save for a better car and get my own apartment. Dorms sucks and staying at home with mom and dad is even worse.
Hate to say it, but I agree.
The whole "nice weekend job" may be fine now, but let\'s face it, a college kid most likely does not have the most stable of a job. Anything could happen, then he is left in debt. Not to mention, the idea of being in COLLEGE and in debt with a car is just insane, then count in full coverage insurance.
Don\'t get me wrong, a new car is great, they are exciting. I love my car and still remember when I first got it, but for the most part, buying a brand new car isn\'t the smartest thing to do, unless you have a stable good paying job.
