Developers say the Revolution will not be as powerful as the Xbox 360. They also say it will not matter.Developers working on Revolution games, according to IGN, say the system will be about twice as powerful as the GameCube. Developers were initially worried by the lack of raw horsepower, but concerns faded once they began working with the new controller. They also say the system is easy to develop for and inexpensive to obtain. The Revolution’s architecture is very similar to the GameCube’s, and studios familiar with the GC will be able to get their Revolution games developed very quickly. The software development kits themselves cost developers about $2,000, well below the costs of the PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts, and even thousands of dollars cheaper than PSP kits. The SDKs shipped to developers in waves. The first kits were GameCubes with a wired Revolution controller. The second kits included some adjustments, the third kits showed a boost in power, and a fourth kit contains Revolution internal hardware and a wireless controller. Larger companies expected to have playable demos at E3 will be receiving a more complete fourth kit in the coming weeks. Final SDKs will be made available in June.Studios in possession of Revolution SDKs believe that the system could retail for under $200, and possibly as low as $150.(dm) Source: IGN Revolution
