Perhaps Unic prefers the Taliban days of old.

i agree with core,..and i don\'t see anything painfully wrong with what uni is sayin...give the guy a break...as far as this siutuation is concerned? it really is scary what they were going to do to him because of his faith,..but i don\'t know i kinda feel if that\'s the law of THEIR land who are we to tell them how to run it? that\'s some of the problems i have with the u.s. tryin to somewhat force their ways or democracy on other countries...whether it\'s right or wrong we can\'t hope to change a county\'s policy because it\'s wrong...

this was startin to go in another direction so i\'ll stop there, ultimately at the end of the day i\'m glad they didn\'t execute this guy and hopefully this will be the first step toward a more positive way of thinking for them. as far as us goin into afghanistan? i thought it was soley for gettin\' the guys that caused 911 (bin laden & friends) nothing more nothing less...

i\'ve said it before, and i\'ll say it again.  the middle east is a lost cause and plagued by their fundamental religious values causing them to be intolerant to the rest of the world.  nuke the middle east and this world will be at peace.

stop pissing off the world you jackasses... you all are like 2nd graders.

I agree with square, but I think the real right thing to do is to 1) stop depending on their oil, then 2) never commute with them again

Now if we only didn\'t have internal combustion engines...hmm. I really hope fuel cells take off because then we don\'t need oil anymore. We can manufacture hydrogen relatively easy. They need to develop th technology a bit more.

yea, the key is definetly freeing ourselves from our dependence on oil.  once we do that, all we have to do is pretend the middle east doesn\'t exist.  i cannot wait for the day that we finally use something other than oil.

Unfortunately oil dependence is far reaching.  It\'s not just cars and trucks.  Agriculture\'s huge yeilds are due to petroleum product fertilizers.  Plastics of all kinds are made possible through petroleum.  Alternative sources are about the only real option, in addition to weaning ourselves off over-use of petroleum (ie, for transport).

All of the following are petroleum products:

Ink     Dishwashing liquids     Paint brushes     Telephones
 Toys     Unbreakable dishes     Insecticides     Antiseptics
Dolls     Car sound insulation     Fishing lures     Deodorant
 Tires     Motorcycle helmets     Linoleum     Sweaters
Tents     Refrigerator linings     Paint rollers     Floor wax
Shoes     Electrician\'s tape     Plastic wood     Model cars
Glue     Roller-skate wheels     Trash bags     Soap dishes
Skis     Permanent press clothes     Hand lotion     Clothesline
Dyes     Soft contact lenses     Shampoo     Panty hose
Cameras     Food preservatives     Fishing rods     Oil filters
 Combs     Transparent tape     Anesthetics     Upholstery
Dice     Disposable diapers     TV cabinets     Cassettes
Mops     Sports car bodies     Salad bowls     House paint
 Purses     Electric blankets     Awnings     Ammonia
Dresses     Car battery cases     Safety glass     Hair curlers
Pajamas     Synthetic rubber     VCR tapes     Eyeglasses
Pillows     Vitamin capsules     Movie film     Ice chests
Candles     Rubbing alcohol     Loudspeakers     Ice buckets
Boats     Ice cube trays     Credit cards     Fertilizers
Crayons     Insect repellent     Water pipes     Toilet seats
Caulking     Roofing shingles     Fishing boots     Life jackets
Balloons     Shower curtains     Garden hose     Golf balls
 Curtains     Plywood adhesive     Umbrellas     Detergents
Milk jugs     Beach umbrellas     Rubber cement     Sun glasses
Putty     Faucet washers     Cold cream     Bandages
Tool racks     Antihistamines     Hair coloring     Nail polish
Slacks     Drinking cups     Guitar strings     False teeth
Yarn     Petroleum jelly    Toothpaste     Golf bags
 Roofing     Tennis rackets     Toothbrushes     Perfume
Luggage     Wire insulation     Folding doors     Shoe polish
Fan belts     Ballpoint pens     Shower doors     Cortisone
Carpeting     Artificial turf     Heart valves     LP records
Lipstick     Artificial limbs     Hearing aids     Vaporizers
Aspirin     Shaving cream     Wading pools     Parachutes

we have it..it would just cost a sh*t load for the mass public to get it. Plus, i cant help but imagine the economy getting hurt if we use something better than oil that doesnt cost as much per gallon/doesnt need fill ups once every 1 er 2 weeks.

anyway..update on the guy: http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/03/27/christian.convert.ap/index.html

So when watching Al-Jazeera, there is no bias there?

Ofcoarse the media is biased in America. That\'s why I tend not to fully believe it unless it is well documented at other news sources also.

I dont watch Al-Jazeera

Its true that its a lost cause. But if we leave them alone they will leave us alone thats what I have learned after having a personal experience with them.

Generally muslims arent fanatics that will kill anyone thats not a muslim.

What actually happens is that their history, culture and traditions are improtant for them as an identity.
Its not necessarilly religion nor does it mean that they want to kill anyone. If these are under a thread many will try to protect these (not necessarilly with violence).
Unfortunately there are also the religious fanatics that will blindly do anything.

Saudi Arabian government for example have many times put on the discussion table matters like women\'s rights, loose some restrctionc etc to improve social life. The problem was always the clerks that will not even consider these matters. They pull back not because its against their religion. But because the fanatics may start an uproar and the government wants to prevent this.

If we try to change things especially by force then we cause what they wanted to prevent. An uproar, an explosion of fanatics. The more we interfere the worse things get.

WTF are you talking about? Terrorists don\'t play the "fair" game, I\'m sorry.

You can\'t pretend there isn\'t a tit for tat going on.  Their attacks are reprisals for our actions, our actions are reprisals for their attacks... it goes on and on.  I\'m not saying there is any way out of this cycle, but it\'s obvious that we would have been better off if we had ignored them a little more.

Terrorist didnt just wake up one day inspired to attack.

Not to mention that the "effort" to stop them gave birth to more terrorist attacks.

Some tend to confuse them all with terrorists or fanatics. Just like many tend to call all Iraqis terrorists that fight armed outsiders away from their country-after we caused chaos in their country.
Or tend to call all muslims that protested  fanatics-after we insulted them with those strips.

people have been saying "dont confuse the fanatics with the normal civilians" like a couple weeks after the war started. The problem is all we hear is the fanatics and never the normal people..pretty much the same as how we hear about all the explosions and lives lost but not any progress except "bush says were making progress."

and in concern to the comics (was confused what u meant for a second)..hgave to admit that they went CRAZY. i mean..they killed and burned stuff down over it..i get protesting and showing your displeasure. Im not sure how many fatalities weve had in our bunch of anti-war protest (a much bigger deal/heated discussions/etc) but the only one i remember is 2 rednecks fighting about the issue and one shot the other person.
