http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3150298

The directed moments sound well thought out ; each one customized for story impact.
Check out the screenshot with the dude in half. Bloodyfvckingtastic.

The real deal. Try to look at the model\'s contours ; often you can still count the polygon edges.
(MGS4 graphics still look a tiny tiny bit better imho)

Ubisoft Shanghai is doing this and it\'s a suped up SC X engine (from CT) built to take advantage of Xbox360 multicore architecture and dualcore PC\'s.

Xbox360 & PC will have online Spies vs Mercs
PS2 & Xbox will have online Spies vs Spies

I guess the companies we expected to have these kinds of visuals pulled through. Konami and now this.

The top of Sam\'s kneepad : I count 1,2,3 polygon edges on that side. Basically we see a quarter part of the knee surface ; this suggests a fullrounding of about 12, maybe 15, polygon edges. Current gen is usually 8 poly edges for limbs. Also, it\'s the feffects like the lighting and the normal mapping which make stuff look more true to life than it actually is.

I\'m not into 3D modeling, so I wouldn\'t notice technical things like that (although when you point those things out, they become obvious). But that\'s cool.

^ That\'s a maybe and a matter of style difference (sneaky atmosphere vs bombastic battles).

Last Gears of War ingame demo ran @ 20 frames p/sec with hickups.

This is a true ingame camera point of view shot from GoW.
It doesn\'t look as impressive as those early longshot cam screenshots.

An indoor, plain scene? You\'re comparing it to outdoor scenes. That\'s hardly fair.

Anyway, those GoW vids were extremely early builds.

Why ? A GoW indoor pic should be able to be at least on par with that SC DA pic i posted first. That\'s a fair comparison.

Are you refering to the demo shown last year(I think it was at E3?)?

That was my initial argument vs Unicron ! Stealth atmosphere - Frantic sci fi action.

Anyway, the demo showed with that Cliffy B interview on G4 some time ago, yes. Gameplay looked a bit like Syphon Filter imo. I saw only one type of Locust enemy ; footsoldier type, not the big ones. Framerate was really not good.

But indeed, i wouldn\'t be surprised if GoW eventually will have more impressive graphics. Afterall, it\'s built on a completely new engine whereas SC DA runs on
an evolved version of the SC CT engine.

I am mainly talking about the technical visual aspects rather than the art direction of the game. :)

How long ago though? I am trying to see if it was the early build footage shown at E3 last year. That was 20fps I remember. But I think they are going to achieve a stable 30fps
