password managers
« on: May 18, 2006, 11:55:49 PM »
I used to use norton password manager to store all my passwords, but for some reason, it doesn\'t work anymore, I can\'t get it to open.

I have shitloads of passwords to various accounts, and can\'t be arsed trying to remember the lot of them, anyone here use password managers?

I\'m looking for a good free one, I\'ve googled it (before mm chips in with that gem of advice), but there are loads of them.

Anyone who does use password managers, what one is the best?

nope, it just doesn\'t start up, I restored my comp the other day because it was causing problems, so there are no passwords on, haven\'t even started it up and created a profile.

It\'s not just the password manager either, none of the other systemworks features load either. I\'ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but to no avail.

yeah, \'system restore\' is a pretty lousy feat.

What does the taskmanager say on your current running processes ?

Just the usual running processes relating to security, and general comp processes. The one that should be running, is called AcctMgr.exe, I know it should be running, because it\'s set to run from startup.

When I try to launch it manually, it doesn\'t start.

works for everyone else too if they find it.

as well as it, it\'s annoying having to type in your name and password for everything, everytime you clear your cookies.

if you use firefox, it has a built in pw manager, and it works pretty well.

I don\'t use firefox, I\'ve tried it several times, and it seems to cause problems for me when visiting certain sites.

I\'ve reluctantly decided to try firefox again, and from what I can see, the built in password manager is shit. I\'ve been round all the places I visit on the net trying to store my passwords, and it\'s only stored it on 2 of them. It doesn\'t work on any forum passwords, and it only works on 1 of the gaming sites I visit.

It would be better if you could manually add url\'s to the pages, along with the account name & passwords
