ECW returns June 13
« on: May 25, 2006, 02:31:44 PM »
WWE is pulling the trigger and re-launching ECW as its own brand with a one hour Tuesday timeslot on SciFi.

Tommy Dreamer and Paul Heyman will be the writers for the show.

This cool to anyone else or are we an exclusively "wrestling is gay" crowd?

i hope it doesnt completely suck
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

I used to love ECW with all my heart. Infact, the time I stopped watching wrestling corresponds exactly with ECW biting the dust.

I\'ll be watching.

Yeah, ECW gave him his swan song like 7 years ago. He can hardly move around now. Though he\'s a crazy son of a bitch, so I\'m sure he\'ll go out and get his ass handed to him before taking another year off to recover.

He needs to give it up or find a new role. Being active is bad for his health.

Clips, once you find a couple characters to hook into, it becomes a much more compelling show. Or at least, it was. Dreamer and Heyman are better writers than what the WWE has, even if WWE stories are getting much more watchable lately. (On Raw anyway, I don\'t really catch Smackdown anymore)

i agree with the terry funk thing,..i saw him this past week on raw, my first reaction was that this cat needs to sit down somewhere,...ric flair is another who i feel needs to give it a rest. you can tell how other wrestlers take "extra care" of him when they wrestle him...hulk hogan was another as well,..he just looked terrible in the ring in his last few matches. as far as ecw goes, i\'ll just have to try and check for it...and i agree that raw has had the better storylines lately than smackdown, i find myself watching raw more....on a side note..does anybody know why batista left the show? i think i heard it was because his mother was sick, but i\'m not sure if that was the actual reason...

No he was injured. He was acutally working injured for a while and I think hurt something else and finally went out for surgery. Off my head, maybe it was shoulder surgery... but I\'m not sure.

He was at Wrestlemania hinting about being champ again by Wrestlemania 23. He\'ll be back.

For as tremendous a shape as he\'s in, he\'s actually one of the older wrestlers. Up in his 40s, though he looks 29 or something.

When Flair takes a fall now, it\'s scary. And he took a few bumps from the top of a ladder recently. He\'s been off tv for a few weeks now after being squashed by the new Samoan guy. So that\'s good news for his body.

i saw that samoan dude take out that big black dude on raw last week...forgot that dude\'s name, but he\'s the one with the blond mohawk,(viscera)..anyway i don\'t like what they\'re doin with him,..he\'s just what they call a "jobber" now...not too long ago he used to be terrorizin\' everybody on that show,..and yes i know it\'s all staged, but they could\'ve made it into some sort of match,..a guy that big doesn\'t get destroyed that quick even if he was suprised attacked....and will somebody please get rid of the spirit squad? I can\'t stand those :gfight: fairies... their gimmick is REAL weak and i\'m surprised to see them headlinin\' with triple h...i saw no heat whatsoever with that fued...

the last great fued for wrestling were the triple h & rock matches..they had some stellar moments every time they faced...

Umaga is actually a decent wrestler tho, just with a lame gimmick. His manager is entertaining as hell: Armando Alejandro Estrada.

So they had the ECW vs WWE show last night and Big Show joined ECW. It\'s going to be a lame brand if they don\'t let Heyman and Dreamer do it justice. I have a feeling Vince and crew will bring it down.

They already plan on taping most of the shows in front of the Smackdown crowds which is a huge mistake. They should hire extra crew and let them do their own thing as a separate entity, but whatever... We\'ll see how it turns out.

yea i agree..they need to let ecw have their own thing...i\'m sure vince could get it on another network...they already have an audience for it, and i\'m sure they have wrestlers as well...putting it on in front of the smackdown audience just waters down the whole experience.

They got it its own timeslot, 10 p.m. EST on Sci Fi, Tuesday night.

But they intend to begin taping shows back to back with the Smackdown taping. WWE crowd is not ECW crowd, so I hope they come up with a different idea, even if they are doin it to make things easier for their backstage crews.
