The PC version has been capped at a smooth 60 FPS, while the Xbox 360 version will run at a steady 30 FPS, and the single-player game is, with the exception of a few down-sampled textures here and there, gorgeous. Also, it\'s the exact same content on both systems. Built on the Doom 3 engine, both versions, from what we saw, are running smoothly, fast, and beautifully.
What a kick in the nutz for the Xbox 360. From what is supposed to be a machine as powerful as the latest PC\'s it sure is having trouble getting many of its games up to 60 frames per second.
I wasn\'t overly excited for Prey to begin with, since its just another 1st person shooter, but this news bothers me. there have been lots of framerate issues in Xbxo 360 games. not all games have problems but most of them stutter.
Burnout is the only Xbox game I have that runs at a smooth 60 FPS. PGR3 runs at 30 FPS and has occasional frame drops when there are a few cars on screen and smoke effects. Oblivion constantly flutters, and I believe COD2 on Xbox 360 is running at 30 FPS as well. I might be wrong about COD2, but it never seemed fast and smooth to me.
