PS3 goes GOLD!

Some of those games are unknown to me, but PS3\'s lineup is making the PS2\'s launch look like a million bucks, no?

If I were going shopping for a PS3, I wonder what I\'d buy. Perhaps Need for Speed... Then I\'d find out about the interesting sounding titles - Resistance, Genji 2, Stranglehold and Fatal Inertia - and buy whichever one looked promising but wasn\'t a first person shooter. ... And if Tiger Woods games have been good before, I bet a PS3 version would be pretty to look at?

Any early PS3 adopters here? What will you buy?

Ahm...that sounds better than the PS2 launch by a huge difference actually and there are also more games to be announced for launch. We are still 4 months away from launch, and games like Motorstorm and Warhawk will probably appear shortly after.

So yeah sounds good to me. But not mindblowing. Just good

Resistance
Genji2
Fatal Inertia
Sonic
Rainbow6

These are the games that interest m personally from that list and that list might increase as we near the launch. But lots more will be interested for games like COD3, RR7, Madden , Need For Speed, etc.

except for the rockin\' PS2 launch, there were so many great titles to play.

and the xbox launch wasn\'t so bad once you got over the "holy fuck, this thing is huge" phase.

and when hasn\'t nintendo launched a console with only 2-3 titles (one of them being a ***** mario game?)

Wrong on every single account. The PS2 launch was far from rockin\', the Xbox launch bit the big one as did the Cube launch.

For the record, the Cube launched without a Mario game. It had Luigi\'s Mansion.

;)

And Nintendo has confirmed that Mario is not a launch title. Instead, Metroid and Zelda are.

2001.

And if the stars stood for shitty, the answer would be they have never launched a console with 2-3 titles (one of them being a ****** mario game).

I\'m sure MM will consider Luigi\'s Mansion a Mario game, despite the fact they really have nothing in common, other than Luigi has appeared in Mario games. But that is like bunching every game Wario ever appeared in as a Mario game.

hey, she\'s pretty hot for her age (and single too!)

now Eik, as far as i remember, the N64 launched with Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64. thats a. 2 games and b. a mario title.  perhaps i\'m remembering a different N64 launch?

luigi\'s mansion is unarguably a mario series title.  come on now.
especially since it is a platformer, but if you have to split hairs over it to make a point.....

My answer was cool. Gamecube launched in 2001 with a bunch of games. I bought like seven that day.

And because Mario 64 was not shitty, the 1996 N64 launch doesn\'t qualify either. (Unless that\'s not what ****** stood for.)

Also, Luigi\'s Mansion had you running from room to room vacuuming up ghosts. If this is a Mario title to you, then I suggest you go back and play an actual Mario title. In fact, make it New Super Mario Bros. for the DS. That\'s a lot of fun. :)

Just don\'t let the cool kids see you playing or they might beat you up and take your lunch money.

lol, Eik.  just admit i was right about the N64 launch (and nintendo launches in general).  it will only sting a little.

****** is a variable.  as in insert random word here like "super", "golf", "kart", "RPG" or even "galaxy".  like you wouldn\'t know it belonged in the mario franchise if \'mario\' wasn\'t in the title...like "luigi\'s mansion".

and i\'m not playing "new super deluxe mario returns (again)" on the DS, regardless of who might see me.  i already played it a long time ago.

The N64 launch was damn good. It had two titles, but both was triple A titles. Infact, Mario 64 is still considered a revolutionary game. Get over it. It took years before any other 3D platform game caught up with it. Quality not quanity. That is what the N64 launch went with. I would rather have two solid titles, as opposed to ten average or less than average titles.

And Luigi\'s Mansion was not a Mario title. You trying to say it was  is nothing but you grasping at straws to make a valid argument. It is in no shape or form a Mario title.

With all that said, the Cube launch sucked, just like the PS2 and Xbox launch sucked.

You had no point. It really is that simple.

And while we are at it..

You may as well "insert title" in that sentence. Because that is the basis of every sequel. Yes, even the ones who get excited about and praise on the PS2 / PS3. It does not change the fact that the New Super Mario Bro\'s is a damn fine title.

Haha yea I don\'t know the point either. But your post makes a lot of sense anyway, mm.

There are a boatload of Mario spin-offs. It bothers me. The platforming genre is under exposed lately which is great and really does keep NSMB from feeling like a been-there-done-that game.

But the over exposure of Mario and especially the Mario Party franchise got really out of hand with the Cube. I hope they seriously scale back for Wii. They started to tie-in the Wave Race and Excite Bike characters and the 1080 Snowboarding characters, too. I\'d much prefer to see something like that instead of Mario *insert sport* ad nauseum.

As for Nintendo launches historically, I think Cube\'s launch was average both with quantity and quality of games. N64 was average with 2 games making up the first like, month, but they were an awesome couple of games, especially Mario 64. I know you have a soft spot for SM64. :)

Before that, I\'m afraid I was too poor to enjoy the SNES launch so I don\'t remember it. SMW, I suppose? And I was 3 when the NES came out, so I missed that, too. Since launches are kind of on-topic, shed some light on those?

To bad it isn\'t true.  Neither the Cube or N64 launched with any off-shoots of Mario, infact, only the N64 launched with a Mario title. This is just more of MM pulling random stuff out of his ass and trying to pass it off as fact. So, go ahead and laugh, but don\'t try and pass something off as fact, when everyone with alittle common sense knows it simply isn\'t true. You can try and distort the truth all you want, but at the end of the day, nothing changes.

Should Nintendo calm down with throwing Mario in everything? Yeah, most certainly. Does that have anything to do with the topic at hand? Not in the least.

As it stands, the Wii will be the second Nintendo system to launch without a Mario title (not counting handhelds). The Cube launched with Lugi\'s Mansion and the Wii will launch with Metroid and Zelda. Not a single Mario title.\'

And P.S ....

What does it matter if the Wii did launch with a Mario title? Almost every single Mario title has been high quality and highly acclaimed. What is so bad with Nintendo making another and giving the fans what they want? You act like just because Mario is a launch title the whole launch is not worth havin\', when that\'s simply not the case. If anything, a solid Mario title would make the launch more appealing to the casual gamers. This kind of logic is stupid..

"Mario ...at launch..Wii sucks!"
It\'s like saying, "yet another FPS shooter on the PS3 launch?...PS3 sucks".

Stupid.

Wii is shaping up to have a nice launch, if you buy into the concept of Wii.

Excitetruck and Wii Sports are not much to look at and are so simple to play, but I want them the most.

There\'s Metroid and Zelda to fill the franchise gap.

Filling the crappy third party gap... ;) Sonic Wild Fire and Red Steel were both at the promising stage in May.

And I\'d even toss the graphically underwhelming but still tempting, Madden into the promising pile.

There\'s no confirmed launch lineup yet, though. So these may or may not be part of it. I think there\'s going to be a Dragon Quest game too, but I forget if that\'s supposed to be launch or not.

We\'ll see.

I\'ll be spending some cash either way. :)
