Red Steel was in no way promising, let\'s not kid ourselves here.

With that said, sign me up on the Zelda part. I\'ll also pick up Sonic. My main hopes is that the virtual console and internet part is working from day one. Gonna have to pass on Metroid as I am still pissed about the whole FPS conversion..Yeah, I know, I\'m livin\' in the past.

Actually, I thought the gun play, especially the slow motion aiming followed by real-time shooting was looking good. And the rumor has it that the developers have decided to try to more closely mimick actual controller movement when it comes to swordplay. It needs work, but I\'d say it\'s promising.

Sonic I like because it finally harkens back to the series\' roots. Put him on rails and let him run. The promising part comes from the fact that there\'s a lot of pop-up and still places where the action slowed to a crawl. I didn\'t like that. I also hope there are high-speed, end-level boss battles. Hit all the right nails and they\'ll hammer home a winner with Wild Fire. Graphics aside, I\'m way more psyched for this than the 3D adventure coming to the other consoles. Since the first Sonic Adventure, those games have been way off mark.

The original PS2 launch list : http://ps2.ign.com/articles/080/080661p1.html

Resistance
Madden
NBA Live
Need for Speed
Tiger Woods
Genji2
Untold Legends
COD3
Tony Hawk
Marvel game
Stranglehold
Fatal Inertia
NHL 2K7
Full Auto2
Ridge Racer7
Sonic
Rainbow6

WarHawk and Motorstorm were gonna make it as well .. i think...

PS3\'s launchgames might be relatively better than PS2\'s launch games. Of course, XB360 is gonna have a very strong line up this holiday season.

Out of those, I bought...

Tekken Tag Tournament (Namco, fighting)
TimeSplitters (Eidos, First-Person Shooter)
Unreal Tournament (Infogrames, First-Person Shooter)
SSX (EA, Sports)
Street Fighter EX3 (Capcom, Fighting)
Summoner (THQ, RPG)
Ridge Racer V (Namco, Racing)

Out of those, I enjoyed....

None. I remember being hyped up for the launch, bought all my games and got home, tried them out, went to bed pissed off. I even made a thread on this board on how the PS2 launch sucked and people said I was lying and didn\'t own one.

consoles didn\'t really have launches back then, Eik.

there was no internet to build hype.  there was no gaming community.
you walked into toys R us, or "childens palace" in my time, and drooled over a "coming soon" sign.  there were no "video game" isles to speak of.
everything was in glass cases, and they only had a few copies of anything.
you had no clue what was coming out, you had to go into the stores to see what games were out.  i remember when 50$ was all the money in the world, and i had to save up for weeks to buy some shitty sega master system game.

hell, i was buying atari carts for 2$ apiece from Hills dept store back in the early 80\'s after the crash.
fuck, i\'m old.

and this is why the console industry irritates me, and i mock it (and anyone who buys into it) at every chance i get.

even LIC can see the rediculousness of it all occasionally.
i really feel sorry you didn\'t like any of the PS2 launch titles, you missed out.

and PC > consoles, always.

I didn\'t miss out on anything.

With that said, the console war thing in general is stupid.. Oh no, I have to support company A so that company B fails.

Idiotic.

It\'s kind of like, gamers pick a company like sports fans pick a favorite team. And a new console war is like the play offs or something.

Is it dumb? Maybe, but it\'s basically people just rooting for their favorite.

It\'d be like...

Pepsi stole everything from Coke! We should flip their cans over and inflict MASSIVE DAMAGE!!!

OK, maybe it is dumb. ;]

Heh, mm, I finally bought a bunch of cheapo Atari games too, but I did it probably 15-20 years after you did. :)

What makes handheld and PC gaming(appart from not having specific PC brands that play different games) any different?

If you have to ask that question, then you don\'t deserve the air you breathe, because you are obviously wasting it.

Quoting Mark Rein from Epic Games :

Comparing the situation for developers last year ahead of the launch of 360, Rein believes Sony\'s efforts to get final dev kits out to studios compares favourably with those of its bitter rival.

"Developers were just getting final PS3 hardware [around E3], which is a long time before ship," Rein told Eurogamer TV in an exclusive interview now showing. "Developers did not have finished Xbox 360 hardware last year at E3. So Sony\'s actually maybe in a better place vis-a-vis Microsoft in relation to launch."

"I think Sony\'s in a good spot with the PlayStation 3," he added. "I know we\'re getting some great results with it back at our house, so I would expect other developers will be as well."

You mean that PC gamers/gaming unlike Console gamers/gaming are exactly the same as they were back "in your age"?

You\'re totally making it difficult to have a coherent arguement at this point, heh. What did you just say?
