I hope not. If these games are boring for Wii, I can see myself getting out of gaming.

i don\'t think the wiimote will take a boring game and suddenly make it fun.

it\'s a neat trick, and some applications will make great use of it, but banking the entire console of its versatility is rediculous.

it\'s the defining variation from the gamecube

Besides the graphics, new games, extra features and online modes, yeah.

But I agree that a bad game will still be a bad game. But I\'m hoping that the controls will inspire new games that will be fun for new reasons. I consider Wii Sports one of those types of things, even though it looks like a common sports game. It\'s actually radically different with its simplicity and interface, and I look forward to multiplayer with that one more than anything else so far (on any system).

what graphics?  what extra features? bringing online into the mix is moot, competitors have been doing it for years now.  you can\'t pat nintendo on the back and say "welcome to the party!".  even sony is having an online service, they have to because there\'s nickles and dimes to be collected from the gamers.
virtual console?  nope

controlling sports games with a "3d" controller has been done already.
it\'s nothing new.
contorting genre\'s to fit that control method are, however.

More Features:

Improved Graphics:

Online:

New Control:

New games:

But yeah, it\'s backwards compatible with Gamecube, so it\'s as if they\'re the same thing, right?

nice flat textures on the "improved graphics" pic
if that all it takes to impress, i feel let down.
for your sake, i hope thats not in game

new features to nintendo != new features to the industry
rendering them moot

forecast channel?

All my points are showing you how Wii != Gamecube. I guess we agree that you were way off base about that.

i didn\'t say it\'s the gamecube
i said it\'s gamecube with a hokey controller

honestly, how much of that couldn\'t be done on the GC from a hardware basis?

why release a console that\'s like 10% better than the last one?
...other than because people will buy it because it\'s new (like ipods and cell phones, i know a dude that has like 5 of each).

To compete with Xbox 360 and PS3 and to make money. I imagine that about hits it all.

well, our definition of "better" is just going to have to be vastly different.

Another platform that has an innovative hook that will seem gimmicky at first, but prove itself through countless hours of entertainment. Although I\'m fairly certain that some developers will (as on the DS) provide only tacked-on uses for the Wii-mote.

Lets be honest about the DS here, I don\'t know why people think the major hook is the stylus and the touch screen, but it\'s not.  In fact, I can\'t explain the system\'s popularity other than Nintendo\'s marketing strategy being so Apple like in breakdown (And it has worked for them for years now with the iPod), but whatever the reasoning may be, the DS\'s best games or major blockbusters are games who barely - if at all - use the stylus and the touch screen to any true effectiveness.  The only one I can think of that uses it well that is considered a great success is Trauma Center...

I would suggest that Kirby\'s Canvas Curse was another shining example of the stylus. And Brain Age.

But you\'re right, I\'ve often wondered about it, and I think of Mario Kart and Tetris right off the bat, and they don\'t use the stylus much at all.

Brain Age is a good one, you\'re right about that.  Even New Super Mario Bros doesn\'t use it either.  It\'s just interesting.  Still though, I stand by my belief that Nintendo is the Apple of the console industry and they\'ll keep being that way for as long as they stand by the belief that innovation is greater than being feature rich.  I just wish both Nintendo and Apple would wisen up to the fact that consumers would certainly love to have their cake and eat it too when it comes to all things included in their hardware lines.  You can be both beautiful, feature rich, and innovative at the same time and there\'s no excuse for not striving to be just that.

I don\'t know, but if wii do have good adventure games that can fill the void of ps3 waiting duration, i\'ll get one .Im looking for games like Zelda but with a mature theme, i just can\'t tolerate silly cute looking enemies anymore.

Furthermore, the 360 in my room is idling since July.

If you own a 360, and this goes for anyone who does, this fucking statement does not compute.
