I have a story to tell about the ecosystem in my town because there WAS NO sport hunting for a while. Sport hunting died out for a bit. The deer population exploded. Its still pretty high. But the deer population got so out of control that there was no food and every deer you saw was scrawny and diseased looking. The local towns had to HIRE SHARPSHOOTERS because there were no sport hunters killing the deer to BALANCE OUT THE ECOSYSTEM. They ended up shooting the deer and leaving them because they couldn\'t even be butchered for meat. The deer absolutely suffered horrible starvation. They absolutely suffered and you could tell. I know first hand about sport hunting because I live in a town where its necessary for the balance of the ecosystem. So don\'t tell me to shut the fuck up and that I don\'t know what I\'m talking about and that sport hunting does nothing. Hunters help to balance out the ecosystem of a lot of areas.

My town is very mountainous. I like it. Its quiet and I like the deer. However, I\'ve almost been killed in my car because I almost hit deer on several occasions. The problem I see is that there arne\'t enough hunters. The population got so out of control, a couple years ago the town next to mine again hired sharpshooters to kill the deer to balance everything out. So next time you say sport hunters do nothing, think about the stupid shit you say because you obviously have no idea what your talking about.

Lots of things are wrong. And I care.

I take it you eat meat, right? Lets say you do. How is having some butcher go after a cow with a knife any different than you stalking a deer and shooting it yourself (and might I add that success is not always guarenteed on every hunting trip) then cutting it up for meat? How different is it? It isn\'t. The only difference is you shoot it yourself instead of having some other guy butcher the shit out of it. Besides, have you ever seen or heard about what happens to animals and the suffering in slaughterhouses? They feel a hell of a lot more pain in there and are put through much more suffering than a quick shot to the head.

exotic animals are in no way going extinct from recreational hunting. They are going extinct from human population encroachment and poaching by native cultures. Take for instance Africa. If certain cultures could learn that if you\'re in crowded, festering villages and slums, then you shouldn\'t keep spitting out kids every 10 months. Then these exotic animals would not be crowded off of their habitats and being eaten.  

Hunting deer is a necessity around here where herd control is important. If people keep wanting to expand into the rural areas and turn them into suburbs, then if you don\'t want to hit a deer with your car every night then you gotta take out a sizeable portion of the herd. Also, deer are more prolific at reproduction than the food supply can sustain. There are more deer in NY state now than in the 1800\'s. Why? Because all the predators have been driven out. Something\'s gotta take their place.

i used to hear that argument all the time when i used to live in jersey as far as the deer population goes,...every now and then local gov\'t\'s would encourage the local townsfolk to hunt deer for population control,..stating that if it wasn\'t stymied that it would cause a rabies epidemic and all other kinds of deadly disease breakout....which i skeptically believe with one eyebrow up.....i personally think that it\'s humans in general that are moving into the deers and other wildlife living space,....i used to hear alot of stories of people seein\' black bears in their back yards in jersey...why? these animals have no where else to go...

i don\'t think there\'s alot of new home building goin on in jersey, but i do know that buliding a new strip mall is the latest fad up there,... alot of the heavily wooded area\'s are being taken away and these animals simply have nowhere else to go...not just in jersey,this is goin\' on everywhere. i understand people need places to live, but in some instances the removal of these wooded area\'s seems excessive, and to kill off certain animals because of it, seems a little unfair....

You do have a point about the development and that is true. But deer numbers are growing. They are populating more because of development and less predators to kill them. With the predators gone along with development then the deer spitting out more babies, it creates one hell of a problem.

Actually its the opposite. Males are usully the most victims. In the animal kingdom its usually the males that have the most vivid colors and thus they are the easiest and the most attractive for the predators to take.

It depends. The "alpha" male is just as vulnerable as the other males. When that male dies, it will be replaced by the next male. The problem is if we think that the other males dont matter, they actually do, because the second, third, forth and so on male are potential replacements for it if it dies.

Also we humans since we dont have to deal against a strong animal(that could be an alpha male) lets say a deer with our natural abilities, we can kill a stronger animal than us which is more capable at surviving than us in a natural enviroment. Even a fat retard with sick genes can kill a bull or a deer with a gun or poison.
