Yes absolutely, it is games like grand theft auto and doom that cause people to shoot schools up.  Certainly not bad parenting and mental illness.

The thing is... games MIGHT have been an inspiration. But it\'s the same with movies etc. So unless you want to ban everything because of a few misguided souls, there\'s really not much to do about it.

He was "depressed" or one person guessed schizophrenic. He wouldn\'t talk to people. Probably thought he had been wronged in life, and may have been upset about a girlfriend.
 
He came up with a plan for accumulating a massive body count, so I would say his inspiration was breaking some records and he went through with it due to being deranged and mentally unbalanced.
 
His daddy didn\'t love and/or beat him enough growing up.
 
Either that or he liked Halo.

Anyways, CNN was talking to his old roomates last night and this guy just sounds like a full blown nut job. Imaginary friends, imaginary girlfriend. He would stalk women and as it was mentioned earlier, he wrote violent stories. The violent stories I don\'t find disturbing, any creative writing I did for english, my stories were usually always violent. But I guess when they are coming from a dude who is already being flagged to everyone as a weirdo that this would set off some alarms.

I think it did set off alarms but you can\'t exactly arrest a man for having imaginary friends.  You can also only advise someone to seek counseling, which the school did.  Its unfortunate this happened but honestly, if the guy is crazy enough, he will find a way to go on a violent rampage.
