actually, I just knew it was a white guy and prayed it wasnt a black dude. Latin wasnt an option for the same reason Asian wasnt

no doubt...i thought the same thing...white folk are kinda notorious for stuff like this.....but after that fiasco that was the interstate 95 sniper, who was black i now know anything is possible....anyway,reports coming out concerning this guy turning up some really weird behavior, when he was asked to sign his name, all he put was a question mark,...he was really quiet in class, kept to himself, and when was assigned to write some type of story for one of his classes,..it involved alot of violent and disturbing literature...it was so distrubing that it was stated that the teacher advised him to get counseling within the school...he also wrote some disturbing notes as well...but these types of things always turn up after the fact....

One of his english teachers went to the police but since he didn\'t speak of violence specifically there was nothing they could do.  And since he never had done anything wrong and had all the legit papers he was able to get the guns legally.  Go figure to all of this, terribly sad.

Yeah, not really the police\'s fault for not arresting him or following up on this based on...nothing. Lot of loners out there. Hard to tell which loners are going to go all killing sprees. Just a tragedy.

tru...this could have easily been a student with no problems at all, getting high grades in all of his courses, popular,...etc.....and that very same student could\'ve done somethin\' like this, just because he snapped for whatever reason....but one thing i feel that the school should\'ve had was surveillance camera\'s..which is kinda troubling that they didn\'t...

i dont think any college has that. Mine sure as hell doesnt..probably just the library where people can steal stuff..or bums sneak in since i think its open 24/7.

This kind of thing is unavoidable. Best you can do to prepare is have a way to get as few people killed as possible.

My econ teacher actually said what happened did have some luck because had he gone to the building directly next to the one he shot in (where he used to teach), he would have been shooting at 600 people in a big lecture room, and there are only 2 exits

the school doesn\'t deserve any blame in this.  They\'ve been operating for over a century and this is the first time anything on this scale ever happened.  No one could have predicted it.  It\'s like a maniac coming to your place of work with an uzi, unless you work in a heavily secure environment what\'s to stop them from taking out an entire floor of people?

It\'s just that since the killer is dead people want to blame someone.  I think more should worry about grieving than finger pointing.  I still feel pretty depressed that this happened.

Unfortunately, for a lot of people part of the grieving process IS pointing the blame at someone or something, and the school and its president is a prime target.  I wouldn\'t be surprised if the president of the school steps down after all this even though they had no control over the outcome.

The play he wrote about the stepdad was at least a good premise.  The casino one was so awful I couldn\'t even finish reading it.
 
Violent writing is not an indication of a disturbed individual, but with hindsight, these are pretty eye opening.

well the only thing i blame the school for is that they at least should\'ve closed the place down after the first 2 murders...c\'mon two people dead on campus, and the killer is still runnin\' around on the loose, and you don\'t close the school?......but yeah now is not the time for pointin\' fingers....it\'s a shame that so many of those students was destined to be something great until this a**hole ended their lives...

i dunno man VT is pretty huge.  it would be like closing down an entire town\'s businesses because of a shooting that happened on one end.

hindsight\'s always 20/20.  if he only killed two, was caught that evening, and the school wasn\'t shut down no one would have complained.

They thought the girl\'s boyfriend was the person who killed her and the other person, so they were questioning him while the killer was running to the other side of the school.

My professor also said it\'s in a rural area, so shutting down the school is really hard as opposed to a heavily populated area like my school where u just need to shut down the highway and a couple main streets to stop anyone from going in.

I actually got an email from my school saying there was a threat for tomorrow, and to be "more aware of their surroundings." That wont make you paranoid at all,lol. FBI said it was a hoax, so we still have school.
